(Short version—run, don’t walk, to Cookies Cream)
Being a vegetarian, I usually stay away from tasting menus because they are almost never worth it (at least for non-plant-based restaurants). I’d been to one highly-rated vegan restaurant in the US and the tasting menu pretty good, but gimmicky. I don’t regret going, but I wouldn’t go again (given the cost). I’d heard great things about Cookies Cream, so when I went to Berlin for work I had to check it out.
OH MY GOODNESS!! WOW WOW WOW. I have been raving about it ever since I got home. It was all DELICIOUS and some of the dishes were downright mind-blowing. (Whatever that egg thing with the seafood caviar was sumptuous—and that was just one of the delicious things!)
The service was wonderful. In addition to being great in the traditional sense, my waiter heard that I was trying to plan my one day for sightseeing and gave me suggestions I had not heard of. I did them the next day and was so happy I didn’t just do the “greatest hits” of Berlin.
I never have had a desire to be wealthy, but eating here made me want to be. I could definitely splurge on this several times a year (or every other month?), but if I were wealthy I would eat here every day!!
