This is a lovely family-run restaurant that reflects the classic style of an old French restaurant. I really appreciate that they have preserved the traditional decoration, table settings, and cutlery. Everything inside the restaurant makes you feel like you have stepped back in time.
I visited during lunchtime and ordered the set lunch menu. The starter was brioche saucisson, which really surprised me. The outside was golden brown and slightly crispy. The sausage seemed to be baked inside the bread, which made it both flavourful and comforting.
For the main course, I chose the back of cod, which was cooked perfectly. The fish was very silky and tender.
For dessert, I ordered the Armagnac savarin, but it was a little disappointing for me. I expected a slice of cake with cream, but the cake was soaked with Armagnac, which the waiter added in front of me. Even though the wine was sweet, it left a slightly bitter aftertaste, and the soaked texture wasn’t something I enjoyed.
I also ordered wine to pair with the meal, but I think it wasn’t really necessary. Interestingly, the madeleine and chocolate served at the end of the meal were actually better than the dessert. The madeleine was freshly baked with a slightly crispy outside, which was delicious.
Overall, this restaurant is worth visiting if you want to experience a traditional French atmosphere and enjoy classic dishes that are not commonly found in other restaurants.
