Dining at Goma for the first time was a memorable introduction to their omakase experience. I reserved the omakase (for an anniversary), we were served by head sushi chef Kuncheol Lee, whose warmth and approachability immediately set the tone for the evening. He was genuinely conversable and friendly, taking the time to explain each course while making the experience feel personal rather than formal.
Every course was beautifully executed and consistently delicious. It was exciting to watch Chef Lee’s skill and precision come through in the food—each piece felt intentional, balanced, and thoughtfully composed. He is respectful and attentive in asking about and adjusting to any dietary restrictions!
While the omakase pricing is on the expensive side—especially compared to some omakase experiences I’ve had in California and New York—the quality of the food, service, and overall experience still made it a good value. I left satisfied and impressed, and I would absolutely come back again.
An Unforgettable Dining Experience at Goma
Goma is hands-down one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Cleveland. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm, modern, and perfect for a romantic date night or a special occasion.
What truly made the evening unforgettable was the amazing staff. Sushi Chef Zach is a master of his craft—every dish he prepared was a visual and culinary masterpiece. The sushi was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious.
Our service was equally impressive. Lauren and Lexie were outstanding—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. They made us feel so well taken care of and added such a personal, thoughtful touch to our evening.
If you're looking for an elevated, memorable night out in Cleveland, Goma is a must. Whether it's for a date night, celebration, or just a treat-yourself evening, you’ll walk away raving about it—just like we did. Can’t wait to come back!
Server was very good. Food was fair. Too much sauce, mayonnaise and or salt on most dishes. Sauces and and mayo should complement not dominate the taste of a dish. Lobster roll has barely any lobster in it. Best taste was the nigiri hamachi. That was very good. Was very turned off by a tip option for the chef. I have dined in sushi restaurants all over the US, Peru and Japan and have never seen a tip line for the chef. Is this a Dante thing? I asked other patrons of the restaurant if they had seen this in other Ohio restaurants and the answer was no. Not recommending this restaurant.
It’s been two years since I moved to Cleveland, and throughout that time, GOMA has consistently been one of my favorite places to dine. As I graduate from residency and prepare to move to Nashville, I wanted my final meal in Cleveland to be here.
I especially want to recognize two outstanding team members. First, Katie, my server, noticed that I had ordered vegan rolls and immediately brought me vegan soy sauce without me even having to ask. It was such a thoughtful gesture and a great example of attentive, personalized service.
I also want to give a shoutout to Zach for his incredible hot sauce. It strikes the perfect balance between savory flavor and heat, and it genuinely elevated the meal.
While there are many exemplary people at GOMA, these two stood out during this memorable visit. I’m grateful that my last meal in Cleveland was here. Thank you, GOMA, for being a special part of my Cleveland journey, and for creating experiences I’ll remember long after I’ve moved to Nashville.
For future reference, please remember to include wasabi and ginger in the takeaway container. We had a really excellent experience otherwise.
I felt like the wasabi was actually real, grated from the wasabi root vs standard horseradish powder dyed green. I was disappointed to not find what was left on my plate included in the leftovers I took home.
8/10 experience in the restaurant. 7/10 after coming home.
