My favorite in the Chania/Platanias area.
Simple, delicious food in a relaxed setting. The Radler comes in a frozen glass, which feels amazing on a hot day. The zucchini fritters were the best I tried in Crete, light and airy, and the fish was very fresh and tasty.
It’s a family-owned restaurant, a typical Greek seaside taverna with a laid-back atmosphere. It’s right on the beach, so you can easily walk over for a quick bite after a swim or come for a relaxed dinner. The owner takes your order himself, and everyone on the staff is genuinely friendly.
On one of our visits, there was a misunderstanding with one of our orders, and the owner immediately offered to replace the dish. We ended up keeping both and insisted on paying for both, but he simply wouldn’t hear of it. A small gesture, but one that says a lot about their hospitality.
The photos are from three different visits, which says something in itself.
Absolutely everything about this beautiful family run restaurant is outstanding!! Yesterday was our last day of our holiday and I'm only sorry that we found this little slice of heaven just before we were leaving for the airport.
The lovely lady serving us was so welcoming, kind and helpful and made us feel so at home. She spent time chatting to us and was super efficient. The food was delicious! Lots of choices on the menu and the views were stunning! This was easily the best place we had been too for the entire week. Such a relaxing spot where we happily would have spent the whole day there.
The milkshake and smoothies were a highlight!
This wondful little restaurant deserves recognition. We can't wait to visit again next year.
We found this restaurant on google and tought we give it a try. And it was absolutely AMAZING. This is a very cozy family restaurant not far from the sea. We tried a lot of things and our waiter (the owner) was so friendly. We had good talks and he explained us the greek kitchen and more. The kitchen is amazing and his wife is an amazing chef. Everything is freshly made, traditional and soooo good. The prices are very fair and the service is also amazing.
Altough I think we had one of the best foods in our whole life and my husband and me will defenitely come back. thank you to the whole team and big compliments.
Words won’t suffice for the hospitality we received for my sisters hen do dinner. The only restaurant that even responded to our request to book, and responded with such warmth we knew we found our space. Nikos was invested in giving us the best night. Maria, his partner, chef and all round amazing person helped us design the night so if flowed with ease.
The food, the wine, the service, the generosity was outstanding. If you are planning a big group dinner or a romantic meal for 2 you won’t be disappointed.
We had a wonderful birthday meal at Gusto Seaside Restaurant and couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
We’d booked several months in advance and mentioned that it was a birthday. When we arrived, we were given a beautiful table right by the beach, which made the evening feel really special. What impressed us most was that they had remembered the birthday. At the end of the meal, the owner came over with a candle and presented us with a complimentary lemon meringue dessert while wishing us a happy birthday. It was such a thoughtful touch and made the celebration even more memorable.
The service throughout the evening was exceptional—friendly, attentive and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling rushed.
The food was outstanding. We started with the garlic bread with cheese, which was delicious and perfect for dipping into the pasta sauce. The fried calamari with fries was beautifully fresh, tender and cooked to perfection.
For my main course, I had the shrimp pasta in a rich tomato and ouzo sauce that tasted as though it had been made with a delicious prawn bisque or shellfish stock. It was packed with flavour, and the generous, perfectly cooked prawns made it one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in a long time.
With fantastic food, excellent service, thoughtful attention to detail and a stunning beachfront setting, this was one of our favourite meals in Crete. We would highly recommend Gusto Seaside Restaurant to anyone visiting the area, whether it’s for a special occasion or simply a great meal. Thank you to everyone for making the birthday celebration so memorable.
