Went on a Tuesday night to treat ourselves to a nice meal. The cocktails were incredible, the spicy margarita!!! We started with ribs, they weren’t fall off the bone for $30 for 2 ribs but sure had a lot of flavor. And the miso soup while looks yummy, was super bland and watery :( Service was a little weird because we got our appetizers then it was 30 minutes for the main entree, we thought this was a very large gap between dishes especially for a quiet Tuesday. The miso cod and potato gratin were definitely the best part of the meal, but ultimately we were left underwhelmed and a hefty tab $$$.

As big sushi lovers, MM by Morimoto in Montclair, NJ is our absolute go-to spot for a fantastic dining experience! They offer an incredible variety of sushi, and the food is consistently exceptional. Their dumplings are to die for, and the Morimoto Nigiri Plate is a perfect blend of traditional technique and unique seasonal toppings that make each piece as beautiful as it is flavorful. A major personal highlight is the aburi sushi, which is seared tableside for a really cool experience. While we usually stick to the sushi and fusion, it’s great to know there’s a chophouse side with something for everyone. The hospitality truly shines here. A big shout-out to James at the host stand for his warm welcome. Special thanks to Marla, Lana, Michelle, and the entire waitstaff, who serve with unmatched attention to detail and elevate the whole atmosphere. We even had the pleasure of meeting Chef Masaharu Morimoto himself during an omakase service. The Iron Chef legend was incredibly humble, funny, and down-to-earth—an unforgettable moment that shows his personal investment in the restaurant. We love the vibe here, combining excellent food with outstanding service. A huge thanks to everyone at MM by Morimoto for making every visit so memorable!

Me and my friends went here with a party of 7 for our birthdays and it was an amazing experience. I didn’t know that it was valet parking but that was perfectly fine with us. Our waitress Paige was super sweet and very welcoming. She had lots of amazing recommendations and was very cautious of my dairy allergy which I really appreciate. The food was amazing everyone loved what they got. I think we’re going back for my other friends birthday.

MM by Morimoto in Montclair launched weekend brunch this past Saturday and my family and I were there for it. We reserved on Resy and went to the restaurant at 193 Glenridge Ave. We ordered a bunch of brunch items and staple items across the menu. The French Dip was my favorite, served on a soft brioche roll with super tender and rich wagyu beef and a Japanese-spiced / inflected dipping broth. It was genuinely great. The corn tempura and popcorn shrimp tempura, gochujang & wasabi we order every time we come here. Since we were there with our family, plus kids, the surf and turf roll we ordered because the table-side torching mesmerized the kids. It's a moment, and it tastes as good as it looks. The coffee was great, and my wife ordered the MM signature tea. The full steakhouse menu is also available — 16oz NY Strip, 20oz bone-in ribeye, etc which means you can genuinely have a brunch that runs from tempura to a dry-aged steak. The bar program makes every cocktail available at brunch, including the Green Heat with Don Julio Blanco and the Miso Honey Paloma. Also, your brunch classics. Best new brunch in Montclair, NJ hands down.

Came here for an anniversary dinner. First, let me say that the food here was excellent. The braised cod was perfectly cooked. The Japanese Wagyu had an incredible marbling that it melted in your mouth. The sushi and sashimis were fresh. Everything we ordered from the drinks to the entrees were amazing. Morimoto is morimoto for a reason. The ambience was great— the Koi fish freely swimming on the big screen, the display of bonsai trees, and the music and lighting were perfect for a romantic ambience. We enjoyed everything from the food to the vibe. However, hospitality is something that I believe can be improved here. I was sitting next to another guest and her and I shared the same sympathy. We were comparing this to other restaurants in the city and we said food wise, absolutely can compete. But the hospitality… that’s another story. There are a bunch of snotty staff both males and females that were walking around. It felt like it was a bother asking them for simple things like may I get another drink. Definitely not very attentive to their guest’s needs. I want to come again and give it another shot though. Idk maybe it was just a bad night. But as far as food is concerned, it was worth going. However, if you are like me who judges and rates based on the whole experience, I would lower my service expectations. Other than that, go for the fresh sushi.
