A definite 5 stars across the board.
A great experience from the moment you walk in and are seated at your table
Staff are very curtious and attentive to your needs.
If you've booked a head like we did several months beforehand they will make sure like me if you have an allergies or any food intolerances the menu is adjusted or a suitable substitute coarse is provided.
They checked twice once to make sure in my case nothing had changed allergy wise and a second time nearer the date you were still attending the meal.
The meal its self was just fabulous from start to finish.
There are 3 lunch menus;
1. Experience No.1 (7 coarse)
2. Experience No.2 (2 or 3 coarse)
3. Seasonal lunch (Camel Valley Chardonnay) Soup Scones, Main, Sweet.)
Highly recommended...
Thank you to James with the little talk upstairs (Sweets / Pastry Kitcken).
Many Thanks to the Staff on the day that made the Experience special
Went for lunch yesterday 😋 and chose from the a la carte menu.
Absolutely fabulous food from beginning to end.
The little lamb rib and the consomme with the chicken were standout.
From the personalised menus to the trip to the kitchen an experience to be enjoyed.
Absolutely phenomenal. Was quite a while back that we went for a 5th anniversary. The staff and food were incredible. We weren't aware that we got a goody back at the end, upon leaving the staff chased us out of the door to provide it. Whilst expensive, you get exactly what you pay for.
The staff here were genuinely fantastic and clearly put a huge amount of effort into the experience. Personalised menus with our names on them, attentive service throughout, and they handled our feedback professionally by removing one of the meals from the bill without any issue.
But unfortunately, despite all of that, the overall experience was poor because the food was simply nowhere near good enough for the price.
The first scallop starter was excellent, but that was genuinely the only standout dish of the night. The lamb was bland, the sauce completely didn’t work with it, and a couple of the additional elements on the plate had a really unpleasant taste. Dessert was slightly better, but still disappointing overall.
What made it even harder to accept was the cost. Even after removing one of the meals, the bill was still over £150. Had they not taken that dish off, the meal would have been pushing close to £300, which honestly feels completely insane for the quality of food we received. Charging £9 for a literal can of beer just summed it up.
It felt like far more effort had gone into the presentation and “experience” than into making food that actually tasted exceptional. The staff deserve credit because they were excellent, but great service can only carry a restaurant so far when the food itself is this disappointing.
If you care more about flavour and genuinely high-quality food than the theatre of fine dining, I’d strongly recommend going elsewhere.
Absolutely amazing place and fabulous eating experience. All staff made us feel so special, I drove all the way home with a smile on my face and a full tummy. Thanks to all the team for the food, friendliness and little treat at the end of the meal setting us off on our 6 hour drive back to Liverpool. Highly recommended please visit if your ever in pretty Padstow. Lee & Nicki Winson 😍
