I give it a 4 because of the prices. The food is excellent - especially the turbot. Food for thought to the owner: if tellines are done with cream its difficult to eat fatty fish afterwards. I would recomment to make a wine garlic paraley sauce for the tellines so that the guests can enjoy the dinner better espwcially that the fish is massive
I’ve been coming to La Banane for years, and it remains my absolute favorite restaurant in Palavas. The attention to detail rivals that of Michelin-starred establishments — from the delightful mise en bouche to the homemade gourmandises served with coffee.
I’ve enjoyed both lunch and dinner here, and each is equally wonderful. Whether seated on the terrace (never too hot, even in summer) or in the air-conditioned dining room, the experience is always comfortable and relaxed.
Every dish showcases quality, freshness, and creativity, and the service is as exceptional as the food. The team strikes the perfect balance — warm and chatty when you’re in the mood, yet discreet when you want quiet. They truly read their guests with finesse.
The owner is fantastic, with an obvious passion for excellence and a careful eye for the smallest details — from the bread to the coffee. The wine list celebrates excellent local producers, perfectly complementing the menu.
The setting is stunning — right on the beachfront, but chic enough that you won’t see anyone in bathing suits. As a Paris-Londoner, I feel completely at home here. My only wish is that I could dine here more often. La Banane is a true gem.
The food in itself was excellent. The dishes were presented in unique and refreshing manners. An extensive selection of high-quality national wines is available. All fish are local. This is clearly reflected in the quality of the dishes. Staff was amazing, very kind, and polite. We had an issue with our dish and were immediately apologized to and offered to not be charged for the dish.
La Banane is very well located nice view on the beach.
The food was tasty and nicely presented however the shared fresh fish was disappointing overcooked, overpriced with not an obvious pricing information. I would have appreciated the staff to emphasize and inform the value of the dish.
Food is tasty and portions are correct. It is pricey. The mother of the cook welcomed us and was very friendly. Only two stars is because of the service of the younger waitress who was extremely rude; snubbing us. Made rude comment to me as my husband went to the restroom, I was too perplex to react in the moment. For payment of the bill she came to our table with the machine without a word nor a smile and left the same way. This diner was to celebrate an event. We didn't want to spoil our evening so we decided to not complaint to the owner.
