This is a fun little bar that mainly emphasizes table seating over sitting at a bar. Reservations are recommended but we were able to sit/stand at the bar which was accommodating for our party of 4
Drinks are great as they have a decent variety of sake and some Japanese whiskey, which is why we came here. We ordered the Houou Biden Sake which is a junmai daiginjo which is always a good sake to choose. We ordered some highballs, shishito peppers and fried shrimp wontons. This was good enough for us to keep drinking but have a snack as we go
The vibe is great as there is a live DJ that plays old school records which is what attracted us to this place in the first place. Definitely a great place to grab some drinks and listen to some good music while eating/drinking a few Japanese oriented drinks/snacks.
This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had! Fernando made the night by expertly cooking and creating a fun and casual atmosphere! The music absolutely added to and accentuated the night! Every dish was equally exciting, delicious, balanced, and inventive. The recommended drinks paired perfectly. Before tonight, I almost forgot that food should be both delicious and fun! One word: Perfection!!!!
Made my first visit to TRB this past weekend, and had a great time! Each of our courses was excellent, with highlights being the octopus (pictured) and the deserts.
I’m sorry to see that some other reviewers had a lackluster; that certainly wasn’t our experience. All of the meats were perfectly cooked, the rice was high quality, and the staff was excellent as well. I would highly suggest sitting at the bar, as we were able to get a bit more information about each dish directly from the chef(s). The song picking was also very fun. Highly recommend a visit!
I had an absolutely incredible experience at Tokyo Record Bar. Honestly, it was nearly perfect, if not perfect. I had started to lose faith in tasting menus feeling repetitive or overhyped, but this completely revived my perspective. Every course felt intentional, creative, and genuinely exciting.
The entire concept is so unique, and it’s executed flawlessly. Huge props to the DJ for setting the tone and elevating the atmosphere in such a memorable way, as well as to the sous-chef and chef for delivering such a thoughtful and cohesive dining experience.
This is more than just a meal, it’s an experience. Absolutely worth it, and I’d go back in a heartbeat.
If your in the mood for a truly UNIQUE dining expirence make your next reservation here! When you first enter you walk into a bar with a live DJ spinning records, drinks and bar food sourced from Japan. Then when its your time they take you downstairs for the meal. If your one of the first take a seat by the DJ or the kitchen so you can interact and ask questions. What we had was nothing sort of perfection, each dish was competing with the last and the next to come for which was our favorite! Flavor combinations you wouldn't expect AND YOU WILL LOVE THEM, inspirations used in a Japanese dish to surprise you. My expirence will be different from yours but don't pass this place up!
