A waffle is a dish made from leavened batter or dough. Its defining characteristic is being cooked between two patterned plates, which create a distinctive size, shape, and surface impression. Waffles are enjoyed worldwide, with many variations, and are particularly prominent in Belgium. They can be prepared fresh or reheated from pre-packaged forms.
