The dining experience was exceptional and each course was an interpretation of a Chinese take out dish.
Dishes are beautiful to look at and innovative in presentation. I am impressed at how they made the Yin yang soup spheres.
The lava custard bun was still crispy on the top and bottom. Was really good.
Orange chicken liver mousse was beautiful.
Gen Mai cha with the boba tea mousse was an adventure to try to taste each element.
All the Wagyu elements were extremely tender and fully marbled.
Yang chow fried rice was rich and found it was nice to enjoy slowly and get a taste of the trout roe and wasabi pea elements.
Petit fours were all great. Canele was nicely caramelized and has crispy edges. Sesame mochi was a blast of roasted sesame flavor.
Me and my husband had an exceptional experience at akin. From the moment we walked through the doors till we stepped out, every single moment was well thought out and intentional. The menu we experienced was inspired by Chinese take out. Every single dish was spot on and definitely has Eric’s twist to it. Hot and sour soup was so good I wish there was more! Yang chow chow fan was my favorite - the wagyu steak just melts in your mouth. We were seated at chef’s table and it was a visual spectacle to watch him and his team flow seamlessly to prepare each dish with such finesse. Absolutely a treat to all 5 senses. The attention to the details and fine touches for every dish even up to the way his plates, serving dish was designed with such attention. Every single team member at the restaurant knew all their stuff so well, our server Mike and Martin were so knowledgeable in the wine and cocktail pairing. It was also amazing to see an all female pastry chef team lead by Flora and charlotte. The desserts not only looked beautiful but tasted heavenly. They also prepared a little souvenir for you to bring back with a card to describe all the dishes he prepared! It was money and time well spent there! Hope to be back again one day!

A bright, friendly, fun and delicious restaurant. We truly had a fantastic evening.
With no menu, no expectations and only a general theme to go by, I found myself excited and curious about each course. What beautiful recreation would be coming next? From the first bite, I was actually having fun! Seriously, I don't think I've ever felt that way in a restaurant. This was accentuated by the staff, our server was always making us smile and laugh. The whole vibe was great, we kept commenting on the attention to detail on everything in the restaurant.
To be able to do this with a fresh menu every couple of months really makes this a unique and wonderful experience. It honestly makes it even more amazing as to what they are able to accomplish here with this constant flow of innovative ideas. No wonder it's one of Canada's top restaurants! I would highly recommend this to anyone and I'll definitely be back to try another menu in the future! Tremendous job here guys, really.

What an amazing dining experience, loved the asian inspired menu and each bite brought familiar flavours with an interesting take on them. Had the pleasure of chef Eric Chong introducing some of the dishes and they prepared a special dessert for my girlfriend for her birthday along with all the other dessert courses. Loved the attention to detail and service and will be back.

This is really good, but for the price my expectations were extremely high.
I loved the unique option of cocktail pairings and promptly opted for it. The portions were on the smaller side but they didn't skimp on the alcohol. They were essentially full size drinks split in half and sufficiently potent. Many unique takes on drinks here including tea based ones and floral ones which were top 5 in Toronto. Unexpectedly impressive.
On the other hand, the food was all well made but there were only 1 or 2 standouts (the pork main and chicken appetizer). Everything else was good but not mind blowing. It could be because I came during the wrong menu rotation (take out inspired), but I do feel like the kitchen talent would lend itself well to a seafood focused menu. I did come away full though, which is a pleasant surprise at fine dining establishments.
Overall I'd come again as I think the talent, service, and attention to detail are all Michelin star worthy, but I came at the wrong time with a menu I didn't jive with.
