The food was incredible! Really interesting dishes that were truly delicious. Portions aren't huge so for two people I'd recommend 3-4 dishes at least. It's also not cheap but the quality was there, at least for the food. It was a bit slow to come out.
The souffle was incredible, really interesting texture and cheesiness. I really enjoyed the duck pie as well, it has a great combination of flavours. The monkfish was incredibly buttery and perfectly cooked; the side vegetables equally good. The cake was phenomenal as well.
Service was decent. Our waitress knew the menu, food was brought out as soon as it was ready, and they checked in the right amount plus refilled waters. Tip started at 18%.
The atmosphere was okay. The art is interesting and I like the open kitchen. It was freezing and a bit loud and bright.
Overall, I would recommend!
Bar Chouette in downtown Calgary delivered an outstanding dining experience. Thanks to Chef’s thoughtful arrangement, everything was seamless from start to finish. The wine pairings were exceptionally well done, with each dish perfectly complemented by every sip. The trio of beef tartar, oyster, and trout pâté—beautifully presented on a bed of rocks—was a standout for both elegance and flavor.
Every course maintained a high standard, with the dill cucumber salad being especially refreshing. The service was excellent, with knowledgeable staff guiding us through the menu. The chic, open atmosphere added to the experience, enhanced by the French-inspired chef’s personal touch and genuine care for guest satisfaction. Reservations are highly recommended, as the restaurant fills up quickly. A must-visit for food lovers.

I love being served burnt food that takes forever to arrive! One of the most tasteless, disgusting things I've ever put in my mouth food or otherwise. It's a shame they didn't put their best foot forward. The Thai squash soup was lovely and would've liked to try more of the menu.

Wow, my husband and I just had the best time at Bar Chouette while visiting Calgary from Edmonton! Seriously, this place is a gem.
The food? Absolutely amazing! Every dish we tried was a hit. Each bite was packed with flavor, and you can really tell the chefs know what they’re doing. Everything looked so good too!
If you’re ever in Calgary, you’ve got to check out Bar Chouette. We already can’t wait to go back for another delicious meal!

I’m literally just adding one star because there’s no option to give zero star. My dining experience at this restaurant was the absolute worse. Waitress messed up my order and brought me a dish I never asked for. And then when she corrected the order which was a fish and mashed potato dish, I was served fish without the mashed potato. When I brought it to her attention, she told me they are not making mashed potatoes today or something in those lines. I don’t know if it was just deliberate or some other reason but side note to the restaurant; if you are not serving a dish please let the guest know in advance because I left the restaurant hungry and I spent close to a $100.
