Additional Details
This venture was a temporary project by the team of the highly regarded Mon Lapin restaurant, showcasing their take on fried chicken and natural wines during a specific period.
Really nice place, a bit cold though.
The Ramen and fried rice were amazing, super tasty and big portions.
The meat however some where disappointing, so thin and inconsistent that it felt almost like minced meat.
Some fell through the grill, making it frustrating to cook, and some had so much fat that wasn't tasty at all.
I would recomend chose your cuts carefully.
Other than that, it's a very good price given the location.
Took my family there for early Easter dinner tonight to have some Japanese BBQ. This is not the first time going but the first time reviewing it.
As usual it is a very nice place to have dinner on a romantic date, a nice family dinner or just to have a get together with friends to eat. There is some noise with music coming from the ceiling and the many people eating there. The staff and service is top level. Very polite, helpful and making sure we are doing well and if there is something they can get for us.
The food there is always amazing. We ordered some soup(egg soup), had spicy shrimp, spicy roast beef and dumplings. My personal favorite is the shrimp. Then the meat. Angus beef, filet mignon, kalbi and marinated beef along with mushroom medley. The meat is always fresh. Never had any issues with the meat at all. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion.

We had such an amazing experience. From the staff to the food. I wish I could bring this restaurant to Toronto. It was absolutely beautiful and the food. OMG... absolutely loved it. And our waiter was amazing. I wish I remembered his name but he weren't above and beyond. He actually celebrated my bday without me saying anything but just based on reservations.

This is legit like a Japanese Yakiniku with very minor differences which are not necessarily negative.
The taste brought me back to Japan.
Staff was awesome, food was incredible, and place was very clean and well ventilated (this is very important for a yakiniku place since it creates a lot of smokes)

A Fun First Experience.
This was my very first visit to Gyu-Kaku, and it turned out to be such a memorable experience! I was pleasantly surprised to find good vegetarian options on the menu, which made it easy for me to enjoy the meal comfortably.
The restaurant was extremely clean, with no lingering food smells at all — something I truly appreciated. The ambience was cheerful and lively, yet still comfortable enough to relax and enjoy the meal. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we walked in.
The service was impressively quick. One staff member (I wish I had gotten his name!) was exceptionally knowledgeable. Since it was my first time, he patiently explained the menu and how the DIY grilling works, which made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. I also appreciated that they proactively asked about seafood allergies — very thoughtful and responsible.
The DIY grilling was genuinely fun — interactive, engaging, and a great way to enjoy the meal. They offered forks as as well, along with chopsticks.
I ordered veggie spring rolls, broccoli, seasoned cucumber (was very tasty and flavorful), zucchini and cheese wantons. My friends ordered seasoned shrimp and chicken. For dessert it was chocolate lava ice cream and strawberry mochi .
On a side note, I later realized that seafood allergies can sometimes be triggered even by fumes, as shrimp release tropomyosin, which can cause allergic reactions and I ended up with a slight one towards the evening.
Overall, a wonderful first experience with great service, cleanliness, and a lively atmosphere.
