I had the opportunity to try this James Beard winning spot in Scottsdale, AZ, and it was quite an experience
The restaurant itself is almost a restored work of art. The dining area is fairly cozy in that there aren’t that many tables. The dim lighting makes this a great date-night spot
The staff were professional and friendly enough. We were given time to pursue the menu, and all of our questions were answered. The dishes are fairly hearty, and make good options for sharing. The wine list is fairly extensive, and you will more than likely want a glass or two or more with your meal
Charleen Badman (one of the chefs) is considered the “veggie whisperer,” for the amazing ways she is able to celebrate and prepare locally grown produce, and I will say we were very impressed. All the dishes were gorgeously plated, and they tasted incredible
We had a couple mishaps with our order, but all-in-all is was a lovely dining experience
Some tips:
You will definitely want to get a reservation. This is a highly sought after location, there are limited seats, and they are only open 5pm-10pm Tuesday through Saturday
Try as many dishes you can, and if you’re part of a group consider sharing family style
Cheers!
Fnb is fantastic. Family-owned vegetable forward restaurant serving thoughtful and creative plates. Located right in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale. Very vegetarian friendly. Menu rotates based on what’s in season. Came here for wife’s birthday and ordered 6 plates between 2 of us. Everything was great - super flavorful, beautifully presented, very filling. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and come back
Great experience dining solo. The lamb dish was fantastic. The pudding may benefit from a little crunch texture. Clove was a great bartender. Would definitely return next time I’m in town! Thank you!
This restaurant is absolutely wonderful and well worth the visit!
We booked a reservation (which requires a deposit) but our flight was delayed. We called and they were so kind and accommodating for us. We were very glad we were able to make it work because the food and service was phenomenal.
We ordered the green salad, potato buns with duck fat, and pork chops with seasonal squash. Every bite was full of flavor and the pork chop was the most tender pork chop I’ve ever had.
This restaurant is a must stop for your next Scottsdale visit!
A local recommended this place and it did not disappoint. It was my favorite meal during my entire week in Scottsdale. Dishes were flavorful and inventive. They also change all the time which keeps things interesting. I had a carrot salad that tasted like Buffalo chicken wings - phenomenal. And Brazilian cheese bread made from tapioca flour served with a chimchurri sauce - excellent! And lastly, a tomato-based turnip and ground lamb dish with a mint-infused yogurt sauce that reminded me of Afghan aushuk (dumplings with meat sauce and yogurt). And as someone traveling solo for work, they seated me at the bar with other solo travelers/diners and it was delightful. It felt like we were in a traveling club and we all chatted like old friends. That’s the kind of atmosphere at FNB. Intimate, quiet with delicious food.
