Fortnum & Mason is far more than a department store—it is a celebration of British culinary tradition and one of London’s most iconic shopping destinations. Stepping inside feels like entering a world dedicated to fine food, elegant gifting, and timeless luxury. The confectionery halls are particularly enchanting, with seemingly endless shelves of shortbread, tea biscuits, tea cakes, preserves, chocolates, and every imaginable accompaniment to afternoon tea. It’s a place where even the simplest biscuit feels like a carefully crafted indulgence, making it incredibly difficult to leave empty-handed.
The experience is elevated by the outstanding service. Every member of staff I encountered was warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic, happily offering recommendations and making the shopping experience feel personal rather than transactional. Even the presentation deserves special mention—the iconic eau de nil blue paper bags are instantly recognisable and exude understated luxury, giving off an unmistakable Tiffany-like elegance while remaining uniquely Fortnum & Mason. Between the exceptional hospitality, beautifully curated selection, and unmistakable British charm, Fortnum & Mason is a destination that perfectly embodies the art of luxury retail.
As a regular family customer, Fortnum & Mason never disappoints. I stopped by the Mayfair store intending to pick up nothing more than some bath salts… and somehow left with what felt like half the shop!
From the exquisite fragrance collection on the second floor to the outstanding five-star customer service from the doorman and of course the Redcoats, every visit feels special. A huge thank you to Nana🇬🇭and all of her colleagues, who went above and beyond to help me personalise my mother’s gifts. The lovely ladies serving tea samples on the ground floor were just as welcoming and added to the whole experience.
If I hadn’t had a lunch reservation at Sexy Fish, I could easily have spent the entire afternoon browsing. My tip would be to visit first thing in the morning when it’s a little quieter, but be warned—once you step inside, you’ll almost certainly leave with more than you intended! (If you don’t have a forty’s hamper, one MUST order online! Trust me you won’t regret it this summer☀️
Fortnum & Mason is, without question, the best shopping experience in London. Every visit reminds me why I keep coming back.

In London for a business meeting over afternoon tea at Fortnum & Mason
What an amazing venue. The lower floors were stocked with biscuits, tea, confections, and so much more. It was actually overwhelming how much merchandise was on display.
The tea room was on the top floor and such a delight to experience.
The sandwiches were perfect. Scones with clotted cream and jam, what an amazing treat.
The black tea was perfect. The pastries were perfect. An amazing afternoon.
This being my first and only afternoon tea experience, I'm not certain how others compare. Will I only be disappointed in the future if others do not compare?

As a chef, visiting this place is always pure inspiration! The selection of culinary equipment and kitchenware is top-tier, showcasing incredible quality. They sell an amazing variety of famous teas and biscuits, and the flavors are unmatched. But here is a pro-tip: if you visit the lower ground floor after 5 PM, their freshly baked pastries and bakery items go on 50% off! An absolute treat for food lovers. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐

My experience at the quintessential London institution that is Fortnum & Mason was excellent. I visited on a Saturday evening in June, and it was quite busy, presumably with other tourists like me who had come to buy/browse something authentically British.
The store is huge, with an assortment of teas and biscuits on the ground level, homeware, picnic, stationery and teaware on the first floor(I got a pretty cool thermos on this floor), jewellery, fragrance and gifts on the second floor, hampers and cook shop(and a bunch of food and drink books) on the third floor, and finally the tea salon on the fourth floor. They even have a food hall on the LG level.
My favorite section obviously was the tea and biscuit section. I got a bunch of different teas including their famous Royal Blend and Earl Grey Classic. The Ginger and Sicilian Lemon also seemed worth getting(which I did get as well). They’ve so many different varieties of tea, it was honestly mind-blowing. The biscuit section was also neatly organised with the famous Fortnum and Mason tins containing those biscuits, along with most of those biscuits also being available in lighter packaging. All the different flavours of biscuits—Coconut, Hazelnut and more— that I got tasted quite delicious, a guilty pleasure really.
The staff seemed quite busy but did their best to answer my queries. The checkout line was somewhat long, but moved fast.
The nearest train station is the Green Park station which is a 5-6 minutes walk to the store.
All in all, it’s an essential British institution that I’m glad I visited during my trip to London.
