This restaurant deserves10 stars! We traveled from St. Louis to Paducah specifically to visit Freight House for our anniversary. The Food is absolutely wonderful, we ate there twice just so we could taste more items. Some of our favorites were the butterbean hummus, Roasted carrots wrapped in bacon, Cantaloupe soup, grilled Caesar salad and the oyster mushroom gumbo (we added shrimp) and the Catfish was wonderful . The list could go on.... everything we tasted was bursting with flavor. The service was top notch, we loved our waitress both nights, they along with everyone who brought food, cleared the table made us feel so welcome. Having a chance to Chat with Sarah Bradley was extra special. We can not speak highly enough about the chefs who prepared the food and the staff who helped us. This is by far our favorite place to eat and well worth the visit if you haven't been! Thanks to everyone there for a great experience. Can't wait to come back
Ali was new, but she was awesome with great service!! Would ask for her again.
The food was phenomenal as usual, except for the meatloaf. I’ve eaten here many times, brought folks here from other parts of the US, and the meatloaf is the only disappointment I’ve ever had here. It was just so dry (I’m very partial to my mother’s meatloaf) and I normally never order it out.
The smoked bologna tostada was amazing!
You just can’t beat the braised pork shoulder, black eyed peas and bacon fat cornbread and greens.
The sweet pea cake was one the lightest and refreshing desert!
This isn’t a review based on a one time dining experience. We’re local, and we’ve been eating here since Sara first opened.
This isn’t just one of the places to eat in Paducah. It’s THE place to eat in Paducah if you want food that’s consistent, unique, made from scratch, and always amazing. Yes, there are plenty of other places to get good food in Paducah, but there’s just something different about this place. If you know, you know.
The pictures are from several different visits and don’t even include our most recent trip, when my wife and I were in a particularly ambitious mood and decided to order basically ALL of our favorites.
We started with a bourbon and a cocktail, followed by appetizers. And don’t judge us for what comes next. Spicy beer cheese, deviled eggs, shishito peppers, and smoked bologna. Then we split the grilled Caesar salad and sticky ribs for our main course.
Everything was incredible, as always. The food was spot on, the service was excellent, and somehow we still managed to grab a couple of desserts to take home.
After all these years and countless meals, this place continues to deliver every single time. There’s a reason we keep coming back.
Our second visit, two years later, as we traveled to visit family in Georgia. Wonderful deliciousness! The Chow Chow appetizers and Shrimp & Grits entree and Chocolate Bourbon Chess Pie were fabulous. The Double Stuffed Burrata appetizer equally tasty with a cold IPA. The Griddled Meatloaf would’ve been better with more of the paired sauce and a bit more (thermal) heat. We love this establishment!
We had the Chef's tasting, 6 courses + an amuse-bouche and a palete cleanser. Heather provided excellent table service, couldn't have been better. We were impressed with 7 of the 8 offerings. Overall very happy with the evening.
