Food was amazing A++, had lots of flavor. A surprisingly underrated restaurant, especially for brunch. Also, customer service was amazing. This meal made me fall asleep right after because of how good it was. This was actually a photo from a few months ago, but this review was long overdue. The sirloin or filet and eggs was a house special but I think it should be permanently on the menu!
Hugo’s never disappoints. The service is consistently excellent, and the staff are always warm, welcoming, and attentive. The food is absolutely delicious—every dish feels thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. I especially recommend the carnitas; they’re tender, perfectly seasoned, and easily one of my favorites on the menu.
For dessert, you can’t go wrong with their flan or their house‑made hot cocoa. The flan is silky and rich, and the hot cocoa tastes like pure comfort in a cup. Both are must‑tries.
If you’re looking for a place with great food, friendly service, and a consistently wonderful dining experience, Hugo’s is it.

Liz was an amazing server! We came for Houston restaurant week and their 3 course meal was phenomenal! We also added the additional 3 course drinks that you can pair with each course, I love this option, so smart! Great place to try for Houston restaurant week, I definitely recommend!

We've been eating at Hugo's for a few years now whenever we find ourselves in Houston. It's always great, but yesterday's lunch was spectacular.
We had the pulpo, lechon, and empanadas de colita to share around the table. The empanadas were perfect. The pulpo never disappoints. The lechon was very good, but we were disappointed to find it wrapped in a banana leaf and no crispy skin.
The callo de hacha, the pan seared scallops, were amazing and the poblano sauce hit just right. The duck may be the best I've ever had - succulent, crispy rendered skin, and the mole poblano and sweet potato puree were the perfect accompaniments.
Service, as always, was timely and attentive without being overbearing. We look forward to a return trip to Houston!

This was my first time here and it was Valentines Day. We had mad reservations but showed up early and was seated immediately (yes we cancelled the reservation). They have several seating areas but it doesn’t seem over crowded at all.
We ordered drinks and do yourself a favor and order the drink with the hibiscus!! It’s delicious.
Next was appetizer we had seen a picture of a sampler but it was not on the menu and our server inquired and YES we were able to order the sampler platter (vegan tacos, one oxtail empanada and one plantain empanada, taquitos and one other thing but the name slips my mind and mole sauce. The entire platter was fantastic. Full of flavor and and just the right size bite. Also did an order and chips, salsa and guac.
We shared an entree because frankly the sample platter was a meal in and out itself. We ordered the pescado (red fish) on half shell. My goodness it was so juicy! It was light fresh and Smokey. Combined with the rice and beans was chefs kiss! It also came with four corn tortillas so boom you can make your own fish taco if you like.
This place is great. Service was amazeballs and they have valet and the price is your choice (tip..we did $10) also the overall bill was not to expensive as well. All and all you will not go wrong if you choose to dine here.
