Customer Perception
Customers generally praise Le Pigeon for its exceptional atmosphere, service, and food, often describing the experience as phenomenal and worth the price. The engaging chefs and staff, beautiful plating, and thoughtful non-alcoholic pairings receive high marks. While many find the flavors incredible and memorable, some reviews suggest that the taste, despite excellent presentation, can be bland or uninspiring compared to other major metropolitan fine dining establishments.
Le Pigeon is a small restaurant, seating approximately 30 guests, which contributes to its intimate dining atmosphere. It is known for its tasting menu format, with no à la carte options available.
My wife and I shared and exceptional dinner with Le Pigeon. The atmosphere, service, and food were fantastic. The chefs were engaging along with the entire staff which made for a very nice dinner. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a nice dinner or dinner for a special occasion.
For Portland; this is elevated dining at its finest. For most large metros, it’s just mid. Atmosphere is nice, nothing to write home about. Service is very good (not great - for example, you’ll be filling your own water glass).
The food presentation - excellent - everything looks Michelin star at presentation. The problem? The taste doesn’t match the look. It’s bland, uninspiring fare. Which honestly is disappointing because there was so much hype about this place.
See pics below - again, presentation is lovely - taste doesn’t match. Nothing memorable, but so much potential if the chef could get it right.
This fine dining experience was phenomenal. Never really had French food and didn’t know what to expect, but man was it amazing. The food came out quick and it was so cool having a counter experience to see the chefs prepare each dish. The foie de gras dessert was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, but each dish had insane flavors. Definitely on the pricey side but I definitely got what I paid for and left very full! Also shoutout the staff for bringing multiple bread dishes.
What a gem! Le Pigeon completely lived up to the hype - the ambience was cozy and cool, the staff were genuinely friendly and knew their stuff. We went all in on the chef’s tasting menu (including the supplement options for food and beverage), and both the vegetarian and meat options were absolutely incredible. The plating alone was worth the visit, every dish looked like a little work of art. We also did the non-alcoholic pairing, which was spot-on. Each pairing felt thoughtfully matched to its course rather than an afterthought. Totally worth the drive from Seattle.
It's a small restaurant with seating for maybe 30. I sat at the counter and enjoyed the show. I'd plan for 2 hours to work through all the courses. My favorite courses were the scallops and John dory. Service is top notch and the chefs are very friendly and accessible with questions from the counter.
