NYC classic spot. Came solo on a weekday afternoon. I was able to get a seat by the bar in 15 mins. The staff is friendly & it was a full house. My burger came out pretty quickly and the food was delicious and a very generous portion. I would have skipped the drink for a soda instead. Overall I can’t wait to come back again and try the rest of their menu.
My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with a lunch at Minetta Tavern, we were seated promptly in the rear dining area. We had a booking, which I recommend doing so as the tavern was packed at 2pm when we came.
Our server was lovely and attentive and greeted us with 2 glasses of complimentary champagne for our special occasion.
For entree we shared the French onion soup, which was delicious! Perfectly caramelised onions with melted cheese on top and bread throughout for a lovely texture. For mains we both had the steak fritz (cooked to a perfect medium rare). We opted for both the béarnaise sauce and herb butter as recommended by our server (because why not enjoy both!). Oh my lord this was absolutely 10/10, the meat was beyond tender and seasoned perfectly, the sauce was rich and buttery and accompanied the steak and fries beautifully. The fries were crisp and in abundance. This was washed down with a glass of red for myself and a beer for my husband (drinks are on the expensive side). If we weren’t so full we would have had dessert, but the main was huge!
It was a perfect way to celebrate our anniversary being in New York for the first time from Australia!

Minetta Tavern is no joke when it comes to their food. They're mainly known for their signature burger and I can understand why. You can choose cheese or no cheese but either way, it comes with delicious caramelized onions and a patty so juicy and soft, it almost melts in your mouth. Finally, the chocolate souffle is so good that it's almost offensive. They make them to order and the souffle is the right amount of sweetness, and the portion size is perfect.
Note: it really is best to get a reservation because depending on when you go, you'll be waiting a while.

Iconic. Minetta Tavern feels iconic, from the white linen tables, to the decorations, to the decadent menu. The black label burger lives up to the hype and is worth every penny (I wish I’d taken a better photo). And loved the coconut cake. Service is top notch. It’s a great spot to sip a martini, grab a burger, and admire the surroundings.

Stopped here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. I've been wanting to eat here and sadly the place had no open reservations. Luckily we walked in when it opened and found a couple of bar seats.
I had the French Onion Soup, the Black Label
Burger and a cocktail. Every thing was awesome.
As you can see from the photo of the check the prices are brutal, but honestly all the food was amazing. Everything was top notch. Even the fries that came with the burger were great.
If you're ok with the price you won't be disappointed. The staff was great, the cocktails were tasty.
I went with a buddy before a Knicks game but would definitely come here again with my wife since it was so good...
