Key Information
Pepe In Grani is renowned for its innovative approach to pizza, elevating traditional Italian pizza with high-quality, often locally sourced ingredients and creative flavor combinations.
An excellent restaurant in a beautiful setting!
We were a group of 12 and chose the "degustazione" where our chef prepared a series of small pizzas of different sorts. Some were based on traditional pizzas whilst others were less traditional with a surprise ingredient or preparation, all of which were delicious. I particularly enjoyed the one with the bresaola (air-dried beef). Still makes my mouth water 6 months later.
Service was courteous and attentive and the the owner and world class chef, Franco Pepe, came to talk to us and discussed his creations, taking particular pride in the freshness of his ingredients (grown by him or sourced locally).
It was well worth the trip and the hill top town of Caiazzo, where the restaurant is situated, is beautiful and post card perfect.
The pizza at Pepe in Grani is simply outstanding. Every detail reflects the skill, passion, and creativity of a true master of his craft. The dough is light and perfectly balanced, the ingredients are of exceptional quality, and every bite is a pleasure.
This is not just a restaurant—it is a destination that every pizza lover should visit at least once. Whether you are a casual fan or a serious pizza enthusiast, Pepe in Grani is a place worth going out of your way for. Without a doubt, one of the most memorable culinary experiences of my trip. Highly recommended!

A famous place and so is the need to book relatively far in advance. Even though we arrived on time, we waited about half an hour to be seated in the restaurant. We had a tasting meal (the intermediate options) which was very large and we had a hard time finishing it. The pizzas were excellent and one memorable and surprising dish (fried pizza with fresh anchovies and fresh tomato with some spices that cause an explosion of flavors in the mouth). Overall, an amazing experience that I would repeat again. Definitely recommended.

The pizzas were very good and offered a different style than the usual pizza, but the flavors were excellent.
Unfortunately, our experience was affected by the service. Even though we had a reservation, the woman at the entrance was quite rude to us. In addition, the service was slow and we had to wait a long time for our pizzas to arrive.
Overall, the food was great, but the hospitality and service could definitely be improved.

We travelled from Azerbaijan to taste the pizzas of Franco Pepe at Pepe in Grani.
Franco Pepe himself was very friendly and welcoming. The place is beautiful, with a warm and cozy atmosphere. Caiazzo is a quiet town — partly abandoned in some areas — which creates a strong contrast with the energy inside the restaurant.
Pizzas
We tried the “Wrong Margherita” and “Scarpetta.”
The dough was OK — slightly sticky on the cornicione and with a noticeable yeast smell.
However, the topping ingredients were amazingly good. You truly feel the quality. In fact, the ingredient quality was better than the dough itself.
Drinks. The restaurant has good selection of wines and beers.
Desserts
I tried the best tiramisu of my life. Absolutely outstanding!
Overall
Overall, it was a good experience. High-level ingredients, a beautiful atmosphere, and a memorable dessert — even though the dough did not fully meet expectations.
