Last minute dinner reservation at Perry's after seeing it on TikTok and Washingtonian's Top 100
Restaurants!
Service was great and felt upscale without being pretentious. Our server, Devin, walked us through the specials and ingredients and you could tell the team genuinely cared about the experience.
Standout dishes were the Udon Carbonara, Garlic Edamame Dumplings, and a pork chop special that wasn't on the menu. The chef does a great job making vegetables exciting and every dish felt intentional.
The fish dishes were good but not something I would go out of my way for. The Udon Carbonara lowkey tasted like an elevated Kraft mac and cheese in the best way possible! The pork chop was cooked perfectly and a bite of the pork with the udon was chef's kiss.
Skipped dessert but overall a really enjoyable meal. You can tell a lot of thought goes into the food and I can definitely see why they've earned a James Beard Award!
Happy hour at the bar from 5-7pm not to be missed. Excellent service. The sushi is very good. I’d skip the crispy chicken thighs next time, it needed something. Cocktail was very good. A neighbor had a wonderful looking $8 martini during happy hour. $5 kirin light!

Okay food, not great service.
Service: SLOW above all else. Our waitress rarely checked on us the 2 hours we were there. Luckily we were able to flag down some other employees while they were running around. Additionally, the QR code on our receipt took us to a different receipt, so we ended up paying someone else’s check, and then they wouldn’t let us leave because our check was unpaid (which is how we realized the QR link was broken). We were trying to be home by a certain time, so the hold up to flag down our waitress for the check, void our payments, pay our actual check, and leave was inconvenient to say the least. Also, I had the reservation made for 6:30 but when my friend came to meet me at the table, the hostess stopped her and gave her attitude, saying she wasn’t allowed to. It was very strange. I’ve never been to a restaurant that didn’t let you meet your friends who are already seated at your table you reserved.
Atmosphere: Crowded, loud, but somewhat stylish. Downstairs is dark and almost a chic-tavern-cocktail vibe. The rooftop is much more laid back, but the only shade is in the happy hour bar area, so prepare to bake in the sun if you’ve got a rooftop reservation. I would recommend bringing sunglasses and a hat. Just something to be aware of!
Food: The sushi was decent, but you can get on par or better sushi other places in DC. Honestly, it was not a standout for Japanese food, especially in DC.
Good to know: They charge a 20% service fee (that goes to the staff) on every bill, but it is not the tip. You still need to tip.
Overall, would’ve been an okay experience if the service hadn’t been the poor experience that it was. Not sure I’d come back again when there are so many other great Japanese and rooftop restaurants in DC.

Absolutely loved Perry’s. Came here an hour before closing with a reservation. We ordered two apps, a roll, and two entrees, plus two drinks. Everything came out timely, our waitress was awesome! Food delicious too. I highly recommend the udon carbonara and the shishito peppers. Pink Panther roll was excellent too but very spicy.

Perry's is and has been one of my favorite spots for several years. Went there for my birthday the last 3 years running. Have to have sushi on the rooftop overlooking Adams Morgan and it was a beautiful day to go with amazing food and excellent service!!!
