This restaurant is TO DIE FOR!! We stumbled upon this on our last night at the W Punta de Mita. I had low expectations - just another restaurant in our resort. I was BLOWN AWAY! It was an upscale, fine dining experience. Every dish was complex and utterly delicious. I adored the scallops. I ate the sauce it was in by itself because it was so good. The oysters were the best I’ve ever had in my life! You could taste the quality of the oyster - melts in your mouth. The slow roasted lamb was mouthwatering and phenomenal. My wife loved the pork chop as well. For dessert, the chocolate tart puts every French bakery I’ve ever visited to shame - and I’m not really into tarts! Ridiculously good!
I’ve been to Rubra a couple of times, and it’s a pretty unique option in the area. The design and atmosphere really stand out, it feels more like a well-curated city spot than something you’d expect on the coast of Nayarit.
The food is good, though I’d say it leans a bit on the pricier side compared to other places in Mexico at a similar level. That said, the experience is elevated by the service, both Fernando and Michael were excellent, and you can feel that care throughout.
Everything feels intentional and well put together. I especially recommend the short rib and the tamale.

Rubra was such a beautiful dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and the seafood tower truly stole the show. Every element felt small, intricate, and thoughtfully detailed, yet at the same time, there was so much abundance. It struck that perfect balance between delicate presentation and generous portions, which made it feel special from start to finish.
The drinks were creative and visually stunning. While I personally found them a bit on the higher end price-wise, they were definitely unique and well-crafted.
Service was fantastic. Attentive, warm, and seamless without ever feeling overbearing. The team really elevated the entire evening.
I did expect just a slightly more elevated view or ambiance to fully match the luxury pricing. It’s beautiful, I just imagined it might have had a bit more “wow” in the atmosphere.
Overall, it’s absolutely worth experiencing, especially for a special occasion. While it’s not somewhere I’d necessarily rush back to immediately, I would happily return for the right celebration. The seafood tower alone makes it memorable.

Have eaten here a handful of times, notably twice for dinner, and the food is exceptional. Couples with a beautiful ambiance and top notch service. If traveling solo, there is a bar area to sit at; not particularly large, but have not seen it crowded. It’s one of my favorite restaurants and, while pricey, it has more than delivered in my opinion. Their drink menu has some wonderful creations on it and the tomato tostada is an all time great dish.

Well where does one start? This place was amazing from first entering to finishing the meal/paying the bill. The food was different ingredients & flavour combinations that paired so well together. Honestly things I would never think that would blow the taste buds like they did. I would say there were highlights but I truly enjoyed every dish as they all were so unique. This is definitely something to experience. It is not cheap but based on the quality of the food it is easy to tell why. The service was impeccable with servers explaining every dish. Restaurant was busy but dishes came out and I never thought there was too long of a delay between dishes. I had amazing service as a solo diner sitting at bar. It is easy to tell why the chef is so highly regarded and why this restaurant won best new restaurant in Mexico. Well done to the whole team. If you want a meal to remember this is your place. I can’t wait to be back every year.
