Used for breakfast for four days.
I have stayed at many luxury hotels, and the breakfast at The Shilla was by far the worst. I am so utterly disappointed and shocked at the low quality of food and service provided.
The food was so greasy and salty, I could barely eat more than one plate before completely losing my appetite. Even the coffee was not good.
The fresh salad greens are probably the best part of the buffet.
The fruit selection also felt lacking. It felt like the hotel wanted to save money and only offered inexpensive fruits. Grapefruit, orange, dragonfruit, pineapple, and some type of inedible apple variety.
The bakery section is not good either. The pastries are way too large and have too much filling.
Worst of all, shortly after every meal I got an upset stomach and had to retire back to my room…
This was not the level of quality that I have come to expect from luxury hotels.

The Parkview at Seoul Shilla Hotel is one of the better buffet experiences I’ve had, especially if you enjoy that style of dining. It still feels impressive overall, though I did notice the flavors leaning a little sweeter than I prefer compared with earlier visits. Even so, the variety and overall quality make it worth trying.

First time coming to this hotel. We booked through our American express card. The hotel is immaculate and the staff are extremely kind and welcoming.
The reason I knocked one star off was because of the dinner buffet service which is extremely expensive for the quality and variety. While some might disagree, I think no one in their right mind should pay 200k won for food that is sitting idle on a hot plate. Personally I would rather have paid 200k won for a Michelin star dinner. I will say, while the dinner buffet doesn't leave a lasting impression, the breakfast buffet is top of the line for hotel breakfasts.
When you compare this with other hotel breakfasts, no other hotel can match the variety and quality. They literally had pastry chefs baking fresh Madeleines and the barista was extremely skilled at brewing coffee. I'm a bit of a coffee snob, so when I see them weighing and dosing the coffee, the microfoam on the cappuccino was out of this world. Not many people can appreciate the skill that went into this coffee. Kudos.

Honestly, after reading some of the reviews I was expecting to be a little disappointed, but I loved everything here.
I went for the brunch buffet on a Friday. The restaurant was about 90% full. The atmosphere was very pleasant. Not stuffy, rushed or crowded. Lots of staff that were very attentive and spoke English. The food was absolutely delicious. Particularly enjoyed some of the Chinese glazed pork and ribs. The desserts were excellent.
Worth the price.
