A few weeks ago, my wife and I gave The Foundry a try. It’s located inside a 55-and-up community, so you do have to drive through a small guard check to get there, but that was no big deal. I will say, my wife and I were definitely the youngest diners in the restaurant. 🤣
Overall, it was a very lovely experience, and we will 100% be back. The only slight negative was that we found the hostess to be a little unfriendly. We arrived at 4:30 without a reservation, and at that time there were only about four tables with diners. She asked us how long it was going to take us to eat because they had reservations at 6:00. I thought that was an odd question to ask, because how fast we eat really depends more on how quickly the meal is served than anything else.
Other than that, everything was great. The ceilings are high, the atmosphere is airy and bright, the windows are tall, and the whole space felt clean, fresh, and modern. My wife enjoyed their sweet tea, and we started with the whipped ricotta dip, which was absolutely out of this world.
My wife ordered the steak frites, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and I had the fish and chips, which were perfectly cooked. Our server told us it was her first day, but she did an excellent job and was very friendly.
We will absolutely be back to try more items from the menu. And as it turned out, the hostess had nothing to worry about—we were in and out in an hour.
To those about to nosh, we salute you!
