We went to the sushi bar downstairs for a birthday dinner. You can pick your items à la carte or choose from some sushi moriawase options. The rice here is fantastic with the right texture and flavor. The vibe here is intimate with a nice soundtrack in the background. Our meal ended with a nice tuna birthday treat. Great experience!
Amazing time celebrating a birthday, the staff were all so kind and welcoming, wrote a little happy birthday note, gave us a “birthday cake” of tuna on rice, and made our experience a great one! The fish is the best I’ve had in Boston and I will 100% be coming back - the prices really aren’t bad for the quality of fish you’re getting and if you space it out and listen to recommendations of your server you will leave full and happy! The only thing to note is downstairs it was very very quiet which I think is a nice ambiance for the sushi bar but also could hear other peoples conversations, so maybe turning the music up a little bit downstairs! Could’ve been because it was a Tuesday night and more of a chill vibe though. Overall 10/10 experience :)

Chef Kenta's warm vibe is exceptionally interpreted into food that both reveres seasonality and asks you to play around with contemporary flavors. I really felt the Japanese, Hawaiian, and East Coast influences during my meal.
10/10 food, sake pairing, and can't forget the exceptional service others have mentioned from chefs and staff (shoutout to my server Becky for an awesome time as well).

Sushi @ Temple Records is an absolute gem. The service was flawless from start to finish, and the music and ambiance didn't miss. Yes, it’s on the pricier side, but the sheer variety and quality of fish is unmatched – even compared to top-tier sushi spots in NYC and LA, where we were visiting from. And the chef: Boston is lucky to have talent of this caliber. A world-class experience worth every bite.

At an average of $15 per piece, the à la carte options are far too expensive. This matches the per-piece cost of a high-end omakase, yet these selections completely lack the culinary finesse to justify it. The fish didn't feel premium, and the garnishes lacked any real thought or care.
Compounding the issue, the sushi chef offered no commentary on how the pieces were prepared or what made them unique—an experience that is standard and expected at this price point. Between the lackluster execution and the silent service, the restaurant's overall pricing seriously needs to be re-evaluated.
