Always busy to eat in or take out. Zak the Baker is an Independent Artisan Bakery in the Wynwood Arts District of Miami with a colourful building so easy to spot.
Excellent selection of tasty house made breads and cakes. We went for Brunch and had I had the Sourdough Grilled Cheese with Tomato Bisque and my partner had the Eggs Florentine
which was a Crispy Yuca Latka topped with braised ZTB Farmhouse Kale, Poached Eggs, Avocado Hollandaise, and Herbs.
Great service and you can see the bakers making the fresh bread through the kitchen window.
We had a reservation for 8:30 but ended up getting ahead of schedule and showed up before 8:00 a.m. We got to sit right against the glass wall on the other side of which is the bakery cranking away. It was great seeing all of the fresh bread and other items being made while we sat there and ate. We had the egg platter and the salmon chorizo egg sandwich. The egg sandwich came with a delicious side salad and everything was terrific.
Zach the Baker is a gem that exceeded all expectations! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with the aroma of freshly baked bread filling the air. The variety of pastries and baked goods is simply impressive—each item crafted with care and bursting with flavor. I tried their signature sourdough, which had the perfect crust and soft interior. Their almond croissant was flaky and delicious, and the quiches were packed with fresh ingredients. The staff were warm and knowledgeable, eager to recommend their favorites. I also loved their coffee—it paired perfectly with every bite. Whether you’re picking up bread for home or enjoying a pastry on-site, zack the Baker offers a delightful experience. I’ll be back soon—this place is a must for any bakery lover!
What a beautiful find in Wynwood. I've dined at many kosher establishments and also many farm to tables. Never found a combination of the two but at Zaks they perfected the concept of doing both! The food tasted delicious and fresh. Incredible fish sandwich on a fantastic roll! Our server was attentive and friendly too. You could tell this is a quality bakery that cares about it's customers. We even bought a tote and babka as gift to bring home from our trip to Miami. Much love to Zak and the staff for their creative delicious eatery!!!!
Zak the Baker is undeniably one of the most charming spots in Wynwood. From the moment you walk in, the aesthetic is striking—it’s bright, artistic, and perfectly captures that trendy Miami energy. It is a "beautiful" place in every sense of the word, designed to make you feel like you are having a truly special, curated dining experience. If you’re looking for a spot that "invites you to eat beautifully," this is it.
The Food:
While the atmosphere sets a high bar, the actual flavors didn't quite live up to the visual appeal. The presentation of the dishes is top-notch, but the taste was somewhat underwhelming. For a place with such a massive reputation for its sourdough and pastries, some of the items felt a bit lackluster or lacked the depth of flavor I was expecting. It’s certainly not "bad" food, but it isn't quite the culinary "wow" moment that the decor and the price point might suggest.
The Verdict:
Go for the photos, the sourdough smell, and the lovely environment, but manage your expectations regarding the meal itself. It’s a great place to sit and soak in the Wynwood culture, even if the food doesn't quite reach the level of the décor.
