Additional Details
The restaurant's name suggests a focus on both high-quality cuts of meat and a bar experience with a variety of cocktails.
Went for our anniversary on a Monday night so was quite quiet. Our waitress was lovely, friendly and efficient. We settled on having a sirloin steak each, though there was so much choice. Our food was cooked to order and to perfection. Our waitress was attentive but not pushy but friendly. Desserts, again a few choices we could have had. Drinks were brought to the table by another very friendly member of staff.
All in all a really good restaurant that's a hidden gem, even though it's on Princes Street, definitely worth a visit.
We visited Bar + Block Steakhouse recently and had an excellent experience from start to finish.
The service was friendly, attentive, and well-timed throughout the meal without feeling rushed. The food was genuinely impressive and very good value for the quality and portion sizes. I had the roast, which was cooked beautifully with tender meat, crispy roast potatoes, and all the usual trimmings done just right. My wife had a steak, cooked exactly as requested and full of flavour, clearly prepared with care.
Portions were generous and satisfying, and everything arrived hot and well presented. What stood out most was the consistency — both dishes were spot on, and you could tell the kitchen takes pride in getting the basics right.
The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, making it a nice place for a proper meal rather than a rushed bite. Overall, it felt like very reasonable pricing for the standard of food and service provided.
We’d definitely return and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a solid steakhouse in Edinburgh with reliable quality and good value.

Where do I start? Waited ages to be seated, even although we had booked online prior! Especially, considering an elderly family member with a walking stick had to stand for a while. Not only that, waited nearly an hour for our meal, too!
When it arrived, we ordered steaks (not cheap!) with a sauce ( which was extra, yet didn’t arrive until we reminded the staff)
The steaks came with chips or potatoes but no veg? My wife ordered sea bass and ask for the skin to be crispy, yet the whole fish was mushy with onions and broccoli piled high, but no roast tatties, only boiled potatoes. It was a mess and she sent it back. Offered something else, but everyone had eaten their meal by then and didn’t want to wait another hour. No real apology from the manager, who seemed like he didn’t care. On leaving, we asked for the bill. The waiter enthusiastically stated that the manager had taken the sea bass off the bill. Considering, my wife sent the meal back, why would she pay? In fact, good customer service for the hassle, would have offered a free drink or dessert. Really bad customer service from the manager!

Great restaurant! We had breakfast here (we stayed at the Premier Inn next door, but we don’t recommend that) and dinner. The staff was friendly, and the food was great!
We recommend you go on their website first to get a generous discount code!

First time here, and Ive had an amazing time. Staff were friendly and made sure to ask about any allergies I may have. I had the 8oz Rump steak with Diane sauce and garlic mushrooms. I paired this with a dragonfruit and papaya mojito which was amazing. The steak was cooked beautifully at a medium rare which is what I prefer. The garlic flat mushrooms were melt in your mouth. The chips were perfectly crisp yet fluffy. For dessert, I tried the chefs recommended Belgian chocolate cookie dough which was divine and paired this with a pot of tea.
I didn't know what to expect coming here, however, I got far more than I ever expected. In total, I spent £50.85
