This was such a fun restaurant our first night in Key West! Great food! I tried the Cuban platter. Drinks were ok. We sat outside and could watch all the people going to Mallory square and watched the live Latin band/singer. Really cool atmosphere. Drinks were ok and service not great, but the would go back for the food and music!
Excellent food and a great Key West dinner stop. We had garlic shrimp, vaca frita, and completa cabana, and everything was very good. I would suggest sitting outside near the bar area if you want to hear the band well. The chickens and roosters running around underfoot add some authentic Key West ambience to the place. Fun location, good food, and a memorable dinner.
El Meson De Pepe’s was on the top of my list: it’s right near Mallory Square and has such a great menu for Cuban dishes, and not to mention, the interior is so wonderfully-decorated that it feels like you’re stepping into someone’s house! I got the half chicken with yellow rice and beans and sweet plantains— the rice and beans were realty tasty, but I wish the chicken was seasoned better, as it was bland compared to the rest of the dish. But, the meat was so tender and came right off the bone which I really liked. The plantains are always the star of my dish and they were really nicely caramelized! It doesn’t seem like they take reservations, but we were able to walk in on a Tuesday evening (6:30 PM) during spring break and there were lots of tables available.
The food here was absolutely phenomenal! Everything tasted so good and they give you good sized portions! We also got the mojitos, coconut and a mango and they were really good! The conch fritters are amazing. I highly recommend them, and I highly recommend this restaurant and it’s right by Duval street so you can walk around afterwards
Best value for your money. You will get your fill and it's delicious quality Cuban food. With cocktails you will probably spend around $130-$140 for two adults.
