Visited yesterday to celebrate our child’s 18th birthday and couldn’t have chosen a more perfect venue! We had the warmest welcome and received a lovely birthday card from the team at Galvin Green Man, such a lovely thoughtful thing to do. The decor is beautifully done (we were seated in the pub area) and we loved the addition of photos and paintings showing the history of the local area which created a lovely atmosphere - the chairs were also very comfortable, a great bonus! From the moment we were seated the service was exceptional. The staff are professional, warm, attentive and friendly and each one that served us wished our child a very happy birthday. Then came the drinks and food 🙌🏻! Again exceptional, the menu, presentation, timing for courses, and food itself were all wonderful - fresh local produce and absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were not overwhelming which was a relief as we always hate to leave food. We had garlic and lemon prawns and sliced sirloin of beef to start, chicken terrine, trio of lamb and pork belly for main and Essex strawberry cheesecake (fabulous flavours and not too sweet), chocolate sphere with honeycomb and passion fruit pavlova. We were fighting to try each others and yes they were all fabulous 🙌🏻! A great drinks menu also, we had a pornstar martini, glass of perfectly crisp Chardonnay and a pint of wherry. If I could add one thing to the menu it would be a mai tai as I think they would do it great justice and just because it’s my favourite cocktail 😂😉🤩. We were looking for somewhere memorable to have a small low key lunchtime celebration as a family of three with excellent food and service and this is exactly what we got and more. We will definitely be back soon, thank you to all at the Galvin Green Man!

On Easter Monday we had the set menu which was great value. Prawns, Roast Dinner and Sticky Toffee Pudding, delicious.
A perfect place for family, couples and business
Had a really excellent experience at Galvin Green Man. From the moment we arrived, everything felt polished but still relaxed.
A special mention has to go to our server, George. He was genuinely attentive without being overbearing, and what really stood out was his knowledge of the menu. He took the time to talk us through the ingredients and preparation, which made the whole meal feel that bit more considered and enjoyable.
The food itself was spot on, clearly made with care and quality ingredients. It’s one of those places where you can tell a lot of thought goes into every dish.
Big thanks again to George for making the evening even better. We’ll definitely be back.
Came here on a rainy December Wednesday for a fat lunch. It’s a lovely place, the welcome was friendly as was a waitress who looked after us throughout the meal. The food was good, starters yes would have them again the artichoke soup absolutely delicious and the same for the salmon. We both had the Suffolk chicken for the main course, and for the main part it was lovely. It’s just that all it was was too very small slivers of chicken fillet, four mouthfuls and you’re done. Which unfortunately is what you get when an establishment starts throwing around that they have received a Michelin award of some kind. For that reason, the food is four star not five.
Highly recommend. Visited on a Friday evening with my husband and two children and so grateful for such a beautiful restaurant having a children’s menu. Food, wine and service was impeccable and the ambiance is warm and relaxed. Will be back!
