After a full day of hiking at Lake Louise, we were absolutely starving and decided to stop by this place for dinner. Charlotte💗💗💗was our server, and she was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. The food was outstanding—everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. We took advantage of the happy hour menu, which offered great value and made the experience even better. The sushi and ramen were especially impressive; you could genuinely taste how fresh the ingredients were. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and we’ll definitely be back!🤍
This might be the best food I have ever had in my entire life.
The bill was on the pricey end, BUT we expected it because of our choice to indulge and enjoy their top cuts of steak. Know that there are cheaper options on their menu, but we went into this experience wanting to indulge! We also accompanied our delicious main course with a shared appetizer, dessert, and drinks.
If I could give this place 10/5 stars, I would. My hubby and I will definitely come back to celebrate our anniversary here in the years to come. Thank you for such a rememberable experience, beautiful vibes and delicious food.
If you are contemplating eating here... just go. Literally everything we ordered was top tier, and absolutely remarkable.
In the photos I am sharing - we had lobster fried rice, 4oz wagyu, Tokyo fries, 24hr braised beef, and the dessert was a pie of sorts - I can't remember the name of it, but if you ask for the dessert menu in-person, it is the top right menu option. Absolutely delicious. 😍😍😍
The happy hour menu was quite limited but overall it was a good time! The miso butter scallops taste great, I recommend ordering that dish. I usually don’t care for California rolls but the ones here are made with snow crab which piqued my interest and I’m glad it didn’t disappoint! Ended up ordering drinks not featured on the happy hour menu and those turned out good too.
Pretty trendy looking place with a unique interior. We went during Happy hour and it wasn’t completely full (mid May)…. So we were eager to see what deals were to be had.
Prices were “cheaper” for Banff, but still expect to spend at least $30-50 per person especially if you get an alcoholic drink.
Food was “meh”. I got the chicken ramen, and while the chicken itself was fairly well made, the ramen seemed store bought and the broth rated like chicken broth. The chili oil they offered had zero spice. The sushi in general tasted great the first few bites until you realized that some of the rice was soggy and uncooked. Obviously cheaper rice is used for happy hour or the prep is off.
Service was a bit slow for not being a full restaurant. Lots of young servers so lots of socializing so don’t expect a quick meal.
Overall, eating at Hello Sunshine in Banff was a really cool experience. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the food presentation feels pretty high-end. We tried a lot of different dishes including the scallops, spicy sashimi shrimp rolls, California rolls, Wagyu beef that you cook yourself on a hot rock, lobster rice, and teriyaki chicken.
The Wagyu beef on the hot rock was definitely one of the highlights. Cooking it yourself right at the table was fun and the beef tasted amazing. The scallops were also really good, and both the spicy sashimi shrimp rolls and California rolls were fresh and tasty. The teriyaki chicken was solid as well.
That said, the biggest issue here is the price. Everything is super overpriced, and it’s honestly pretty brutal on the wallet for what you get. The most disappointing dish by far was the lobster rice. The portion size was shockingly small, especially considering the price, and there was barely any lobster in it. On top of that, the flavor was pretty mid compared to the rest of the meal.
So overall: the food is fresh and many of the dishes taste great, and the experience (especially the Wagyu hot rock) is fun. But the value just isn’t there. You’re paying a lot for the vibe and location more than the actual portions. And DONT ORDER THE LOBSTER FRIED RICE.
