I stumbled upon this gem, as I waited to get my car detailed nearby on my birthday, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the food to the service, and subtle interactions that made it clear that the staff thoroughly enjoyed working there and with each other, I had the best birthday breakfast a gal could hope for. What a way to start my absolute favorite day. Highly recommend!
Had a really great breakfast at I Egg You. Our server Tyler was extremely attentive and honestly impressed us right from the start. He noticed our EpiPen before we even mentioned anything and immediately asked about allergies. We have peanut and tree nut allergies to worry about, and he was able to easily accomodate us and made us feel comfortable eating here. That kind of awareness from a server goes a long way.
Tyler also gave us some great recommendations. We went with the BLT and DL’s Egg Drop and both really hit the spot. The food was fresh, filling and exactly what we were looking for for breakfast.
Great food, but Tyler's service and attention to the allergy situation is what really stood out. Its not always easy finding a breakfast place where we feel comfortable with food allergies, so we really appreciated how he handled everything without us even having to bring it up first.
Would definitely come back to I Egg You when we're in DC again.

Newish spot on 8th Street serving breakfast and lunch with lots of fried eggs and milk bread on the menu. The tuna sandwich was delicious, though it would’ve been even better with a small side included. The “I Egg You” breakfast was beautifully presented and came with a lot of bacon(!). The crispy potatoes were a standout. There’s plenty of indoor seating plus a few outdoor tables, and it was easy to grab a seat on a Wednesday around lunchtime. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu.

This brunch spot definitely gets busy, so expect a bit of a wait if you come during peak hours. The eggs were delicious and had a unique twist of flavor, though it’s worth noting they only serve fried eggs — no omelets or custom preparations. They do offer gluten‑free bread, which is a nice touch for those with dietary needs. There’s an automatic 20% service fee added to every bill, with no exceptions. Food is on the pricey side. Seating is limited, so reservations are recommended for larger parties. Our waitress was a little rude, but she did get all of our orders correct. Overall, the food was good, but the experience wasn’t enough to make me want to return.

Solid brunch spot on Capitol Hill, and better than the average DC brunch option by a meaningful margin.
We split the DL's Egg Drop (the bulgogi breakfast sandwich) and the Hatch Green Chili sandwich. Both were well executed. The bulgogi brought some real depth to what could have easily been a gimmick, and the hatch green chili edged it out for me personally. The heat was there without being obnoxious, and everything held together the way a good sandwich should. Friends went with the shrimp and grits and had nothing but good things to say.
The team behind this place (Scott Drewno and Danny Lee, also of Anju and ChiKo) knows what they're doing, and it shows. The sourcing is thoughtful, the execution is consistent, and the menu has enough going on to warrant repeat visits without feeling like it's trying too hard.
Would come back, and would tell others to do the same.
