Popped in today for a long awaited burger, chips and a drink. Sadly Honest burger was busy, so I headed here. Been here a few times it wasn’t as busy today. The staff were good but the burger was wack!! I ordered an American burger with cheese and i thought it was going to come with some American cheese as stated on the menu, but instead I got orange sliced cheese… soooo disappointed!! The chips were ok. The tartare sauce was not tangy and chunky… big big let down…
I visited **The Fox on the Hill** in Denmark Hill today, Tuesday 9th of June, looking for a place where I could get a coffee and some work done.
The pub was very busy with a lot of people inside, but from the moment I stepped across the threshold, I was cordially greeted by a team member named Emma.
Rather than a generic, forced "customer service" interaction, what I encountered was heartwarming in its absolute authenticity.
Emma’s friendliness wasn't a corporate script; she was just naturally helpful and kind. She proactively and clearly explained how everything worked and how I should proceed, striking me immediately with her genuine warmth.
As someone who can find navigating public spaces and social communication a bit daunting, encountering someone so naturally welcoming and clear without any pretense completely put me at ease.
While her demeanour felt natural and effortless, I know that working in such a busy environment involves an immense amount of hard work and stress. Maintaining that level of genuine warmth under pressure is far from easy, and it shows immense professionalism. It proved to me that even in a chaotic, crowded environment, there is still a place to act like a human being.
The rest of the staff on duty shared this same naturally kind and understanding approach.
Because it is so rare, I didn't want it to go unnoticed. I personally thanked Emma before leaving, but wanted to share this formal praise here as well. A fantastic team and a proof that humanity might not be extinct yet.
THANK YOU!!!

Was expected a lot more when I first saw the gorgeous exterior, but I was disappointed. Inside was very busy and cluttered with people, glasses, and stuff that needed clearing up.It was a busy Saturday, but more staff would have helped.Having said all that the staff were quick to serve and friendly. It was worth going to tick another Wetherspoons of my list ,so if like me you love all things spoons then definitely visit if your in the area.Large car park to the rear and nice outside area.

One of the best Spoons in SE, great for getting work done and little corners everywhere with two outdoor areas 😍

Nice spot to come to on a hot summers day!
Nice big pub with lots of seating both inside and out.
Love their outdoor area in the front of pub, where they have outdoor seating in the grass area and love that they have a beer garden too, which has a screen to watch to and also under a beautiful marquee. Also love that have a glass house too!
Food is basic weather spoons food. Cheap and cheerful.
The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food served pretty quick.
