Customers frequently praise KYU for its flavorful and creative dishes, particularly highlighting the tuna crispy rice, smoked wagyu beef brisket, and whole-roasted cauliflower. The ambiance is often described as lively and energetic.
Additional Details
KYU is part of a small, well-regarded restaurant group with locations in Miami and Las Vegas. The name 'KYU' is pronounced like the letter 'Q'.
We had an exceptional dining experience at this restaurant. The drinks were interesting and spirit-forward, offering a variety of options. We tried the Hamachi tuna, crispy crab bites, duck, flaky seabass, and the star of the show, the Japanese sweet potato. Of course, we couldn’t resist ordering the cinnamon roll for dessert.
The modern, earthy ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall experience.
KYU NYC — An Unforgettable Asian Fusion Experience
If you are looking for one of the best dining experiences in New York City, KYU in NoHo is a top-tier choice. I visited with a group of six for a birthday party, and it was easily one of my favorite meals in the city.
The "KYU Experience"
We opted for the family-style tasting menu called the KYU Experience, and every single course was outstanding. The flavors are a beautiful fusion of global Asian inspirations.
• The Standouts: The Short Ribs were probably my favorite—incredibly tender and flavorful. The Korean Fried Chicken was also a major highlight.
• The Veggies: Even the vegetable dishes were stars. The Sautéed Kale Chips were delicious, and the Roasted Cauliflower (served with goat cheese and shishito-herb vinaigrette) was excellent.
• Drinks & Dessert: They have fantastic custom cocktails, and the experience is well worth finishing with coffee and dessert.
Atmosphere & Service
The restaurant setting is beautiful and sophisticated, with an incredible wood-fired, open-kitchen vibe. Despite being a high-energy, busy spot, the service was attentive and professional. We had a reservation and were seated promptly, which made for a seamless evening for our group.
Value
Expect to pay around $165 per person once you include the tasting menu, drinks, dessert, and coffee. For a high-end experience in the heart of Manhattan, the quality of food and the amazing ambiance make it absolutely worth it.
Final Verdict: A fabulous spot for a group celebration or a high-end dinner. I’ll definitely be back for those short ribs!

A great restaurant to entertain a group of people, the atmosphere and service is very good with attentive staff and you can actually carry a conversation without yelling at each other.
The food comes out in a more family style manner where it is recommended to get multiple items to try a bit of everything. The food overall is pretty nice and I would give it a personal 7/10, but I wouldn't say it is a great price ratio. It's a more fusion style restaurant, but the flavors are on point and I would not be disappointed if I we're asked to come back .
My favorites of the night were the roasted cauliflower, Japanese sweet potatoe, Sea Bass, and all the desserts!

The baked potato was delectable and a pleasant surprise with a generous portion. The duck on the otherhand was quite average, nothing notable and was overpowered by the sauce it was drowning in. The desserts were good and definitely worth the order but I don't feel the need to go back for them. I think the meal would have been more enjoyable if it wasn't for the noise level in the dining room. It's hard to even hear the person across from you.

Last week was my first time dining at KYU and they missed the mark. I provided feedback privately via email as well as in the survey that came after the reservation but did not hear back.
To summarize the experience -
Food: We ordered the following - Hamachi Crudo, Hamachi Crispy Rice, Pork Gyoza, Chilean Seabass as well as drinks. All four dishes were average, I’d rate 3 out of 5 stars. Considering the price point—everything was fine, but not memorable.
Pacing: All dishes arrived very quickly, which wasn’t ideal, as hot items began getting cold before we could enjoy them.
Service issue: The main concern was the service. Midway through dinner, my friend ordered a second glass of wine. I told our server I would like another shortly, as I still had half a glass. She did not return, so I later asked another staff member for my second glass.
A few minutes later, our original server returned and asked if we wanted dessert. We declined, and she immediately responded: “I know you asked for another glass of wine, but my manager said we need the table back, so you can order from the bar.”
This felt unprofessional and caught us off guard. I asked for clarification, “You’re saying I cannot get the drink I already ordered because we didn’t order dessert?”, and she repeated that they needed the table, then walked away. The interaction was uncomfortable and soured the experience. I have a hard time believing the manager approved the messaging that we can order dessert but if not, they need the table back (and will not bring the drink which was ordered earlier).
At that point, my friend still had half a glass of wine, but I had none. Our bottle of sparkling water was also empty and we were never offered more. Shortly after, the check was brought over, along with an offer for 1 complimentary glass of wine at the bar (for me only, not my friend). However, there was no available seating at the bar, and given how rushed we felt, we chose to leave.
We were there for barely 90 minutes, and there was no indication during the reservation process of a strict 90-minute time limit. I have never felt so rushed or unappreciated at a restaurant, and it was a disappointing experience. The lack of response from management was also concerning. Unfortunately, we will not be returning
