The food was really good. I really enjoyed the wild mushrooms. The wood fired rice is a must order. Amazing how much flavor they put in the rice, and the crispy top was incredible. The beef short rib was pretty standard. The starters were good. Server was friendly and took time to explain. The atmosphere was loud and the seats are very tight.
I was lucky enough to go to Mountain Restaurant for my birthday and it did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty. We were sat at a great table which give us a superb view of the entire restaurant.
Our server was more than helpful with the menu when we sat down. We began by having a vermouth as we perused the menu. He then suggested the cured beef which was an absolutely fantastic suggestion. We then ordered squid and the infamous spider crab omelette while sipping on a mountain martini.(highly recommend)
For our mains, we opted for the Jersey beef sirloin. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait which was fine with us as we sipped on a carafe of red wine. The beef when it arrived was absolutely delicious with perfect seasoning and so much flavour. Every bite was incredible. We were so full at this point we had no room for dessert, which means I will definitely have to come back.

Had a lovely father’s day meal at Mountain. We were in a booth downstairs. Great vibes and service despite it being extremely busy for all the Father’s Day meals! Food was amazing. Favourite dish for me was the walnut bread with loquat and lardo but it was all very good. We will definitely be back soon!

Mountain Beach Street – London (One Michelin Star)
Mostly brilliant, with a few stumbles
Cockles – unusually small and slippery, dressed in vinegar, olive oil, and herbs that comes in harmony.
Culatta di montagna with grilled peaches and almond – a fine combination.
Wild mushrooms – not fragrant enough, not hot enough.
Spider crab omelette – a near‑disaster: crab unevenly seasoned.
Langoustine – grilled well, has tomalley and umami , but small.
John Dory – fresh and tasty with olive oil lemon sauce, though the skin is too salty.
Beef short ribs – tender, juicy, perfect medium rare, meaty and high quality.
Strawberry and mint sorbet – no mint flavour but still refreshing and delicious.
Torrija and mascarpone – French toast with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream.
Grilled peaches with almond ice cream – the ice cream carries a malted Vitasoy note, paired with mille-feuille bread.
Great for celebrating birthdays and anniversary!
Good for sharing and chatting!
Go-to dish: cockles and langoustine
Average per person : 50-100

Some friends managed to get a reservation at the Mountain and, given the excellent reviews, we decided to give it a try.
We followed the waiters’ recommendations and ordered a variety of dishes. I’ve grouped them below into “what we would happily order again”, and “what didn’t quite win us over”, and therefore wouldn’t recommend).
¥ Highlights of the night:
- Roasted duck – without doubt the standout dish of the evening. Perfectly cooked and full of flavour, though it is on the expensive side. Be aware!
- Roasted shellfish soup – rich, intense and absolutely delicious. You’ll want seconds (and plenty of bread to mop it up, or para rebañar como decimos en España). Highly recommended.
- Grilled sobrasada – despite being Spanish, I’ve never been particularly fond of sobrasada, but paired with honey it worked surprisingly well.
-John Dory – cooked beautifully, with a superb accompanying sauce.
-Cured monkfish and cured pollock – very fresh, light and full of flavour.
-Oyster with apple – a combination I hadn’t tried before, but definitely worth it.
-Fried onion and broccoli – a good tempura with a pleasant touch of honey, though not particularly memorable.
-Leek gratin – tasty, but nothing especially remarkable.
¥Dishes that didn’t quite deliver:
-Squid with black pudding and roasted red peppers – the squid was well cooked, but overall quite bland. Did not really stand out for us.
-Spider crab omelette – it looks fantastic (as seen in other reviews) and is very juicy, but lacked the punch of crab flavour we were expecting.
-Smoked potatoes – fairly underwhelming and didn’t add much to the overall meal.
-Wood-fired rice – as someone who cooks and eats rice dishes regularly, I found this one rather bland. I wouldn’t recommend ordering it.
For dessert, we had the torrija with strawberries, which was good – fairly traditional, with a pleasant fruity touch.
Overall, the restaurant itself is very welcoming. We particularly enjoyed being seated close to the kitchen (a real highlight for me)as you can get to see how they prepare the food. The service was excellent and we felt very well looked after.
That said, I’m not convinced the food quite justifies the price per person. I’ve dined in other restaurants where the dishes were more impressive, either in terms of flavour combinations or ingredient quality. For me, the value for money wasn’t quite there.
