Hands down our favorite restaurant in Venice. Located in a locals neighborhood, this place was perfection from start to finish. The bread was the best we had in northern Italy, the scallops were the best we’ve ever eaten, and my pistachio pasta was unforgettable. My wife said the beef ravioli was the best she’s ever had.
Dessert was mascarpone gelato with olive oil and nuts, which sounds simple but was extraordinary. Warm, thoughtful service and a relaxed, local atmosphere. This is a must if you want to experience Venice beyond the crowds!
Literally the best meal in all of Venice. Andrea and Jon Quinto (sp?) were the absolute best. Had lunch one day and dinner the next. The atmosphere and the service made the experience so much fun. Don't miss out on Nevodi!
The best dinner we’ve had on our trip to Rome and Venice! We had melt in your mouth tuna tartare as an appetizer. For dinner we’ve had the beef shank and bone marrow ravioli in a butter and sage sauce and pasta with prawns and a to die for pesto sauce. Absolutely delicious! For dessert we shared tiramisu. The waiter was efficient and professional. Make a reservation. It was packed!
We made a reservation at Nevodi for dinner after exploring Arsenale during the biennale. On the day we visited, they were fully booked. So, highly recommended that you make a reservation in advance. Nevodi offers fantastic food including vegan and vegetarian dishes, which can be hard to find in Venice. I tried spaghetti with clams as well as their octopus. Both dishes were great but the spaghetti was one of the best I had tried in Venice. Octopus was cooked beautifully as well but felt a bit flat after the spaghetti. It could perhaps use a little more seasoning. Note that the service can be a bit slow.
Mediocre and underwhelming – a wasted evening
We came here expecting a quality fish restaurant but left completely underwhelmed.
The Appetizer: The Bis Mantecati was a letdown. Essentially just a bun topped with a fish paste mixture. No real depth or care.
Gran Fritto Misto: This was the biggest disappointment. The fried fish was overly oily, heavy, and poorly executed.
Fish of the Day: This was the only "decent" part of the meal, but even then, it was just basic. It felt like something you could get at any standard neighborhood spot, not a specialized seafood restaurant.
On top of the underwhelming food, hygiene was a concern. The water bottles brought to our table were dirty, which you can see in the photos I've uploaded.
It's incredibly frustrating to waste an evening on mediocre food when there are so many better options around. I wouldn't recommend it.
