Key Information
Rossopomodoro Venezia San Marco offers authentic Neapolitan cuisine in a casual, cozy, and lively setting. Located in the bustling San Marco area of Venice, it's a popular spot for both locals and tourists, known for its vibrant atmosphere and prime location near landmarks like Dona Palace.
Customer Perception
Customers consistently praise the delicious and authentic Neapolitan pizza, highlighting its fresh ingredients and flavorful tomato base. The pasta, especially the carbonara, and gnocchi also receive high marks. Many appreciate the wide array of tasty vegetarian options and the reasonable prices. Service is generally described as friendly and thoughtful, with staff going the extra mile (e.g., offering free dessert for order mix-ups). However, the restaurant can get very busy and crowded, leading to noise and potential wait times, especially during peak hours.
Additional Details
The restaurant frequently updates its offerings, as indicated by mentions of a 'new menu'. Guests also appreciate the complimentary fresh warm bread served and the cleanliness of the restrooms.
To avoid long lines and crowds, it is recommended to visit early, particularly around noon. For evening meals, booking a table is advisable due to the restaurant's popularity.
Well, the missus and the cousins have finally arrived from the South, and today marked their first full day in Italy. What better way to spend it than wandering around Venice and enjoying dinner at Rossopomodoro?
They’re still in the “Italy training program” and these menus tend to confuse them, so after three weeks here I felt obligated to guide them toward the promised land. After much studying, debating, and staring at menus, it was finally time to order.
I went with the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese, and the wife and I shared a salad. When that salad hit the table, it nearly stole the entire show. We drizzled on a little balsamic vinaigrette, added a shake of salt and pepper, and suddenly we were ready to dance right there in the alley. Fresh tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, crisp greens—every ingredient tasted like it had been picked that morning. It was outstanding.
The pasta was very good, but today the salad was the undisputed champion of the meal.
Of course, dining outside along Venice’s busy walkways only adds to the experience. Watching people pass by while enjoying great food is one of those simple pleasures that makes Venice such a special place.
Rossopomodoro delivered a fantastic meal and a great evening. The newcomers survived their first full day in Italy, and I’d say they’re off to a pretty good start.
Disappointing experience – Poor service and terrible food quality
I am genuinely shocked by the high rating of this restaurant, as our experience was a complete disaster from start to finish.
We were in a rush and made this clear from the beginning. Upon arrival, we weren't happy with our seating, but no staff was around to help. When we finally found someone, they bluntly told us the place was full. However, we looked around ourselves and easily found an empty table for two in another room.
When ordering, the waiter assured us that the pizza would take 13 minutes and the pasta would need a reasonable time to cook. The Carbonara arrived after 15-20 minutes, but there was no sign of the pizza. After 25 minutes, the table next to us، who ordered 10 minutes after us، received their pizza. When we pointed this out to our waiter, he shrugged it off with complete indifference, saying, "Yeah, I know, it's strange." Another staff member eventually checked on it, and the pizza arrived 5 minutes later. That’s a 30-minute wait instead of the promised 13.
As for the food quality:
Carbonara is my favorite dish and I cook it regularly. This was a massive disappointment. Instead of a rich, creamy sauce, the eggs were completely curdled (scrambled texture), and the taste was mediocre, likely due to low-quality cheese.
Pizza was a total disaster. The crust was completely undercooked and doughy, even looking white in some spots. It was so soggy that it collapsed when you tried to fold it.
Despite being a 5-Formaggi pizza, it was one of the most tasteless pizzas I have ever eaten.
To top it off, when we were ready to pay, we couldn't find our waiter. Since we were in a hurry to catch our transport, we went straight to the counter. The waiter told us to go back to our table and wait for the bill. When we reminded him that we had been in a rush from the start and were now late because of the kitchen delays, he just shrugged his shoulders and said, "Food takes time to cook."
Terrible service, poorly prepared food, and zero customer care. I definitely do not recommend this place.

We came with a VERY large group, the food was good overall... squid prosciutto with mashed potatoes was really kind of flavorless but the tomato prosciutto was delicious. I wasn't overly impressed with the meatballs either, and the pizza bottom was doughy (atleast on our visit and overall my least favorite in Italy so far), besides the excellent service, my favorite was the tiramisu followed by the Saint Benoit on draught (yes, this is an American review) closely followed by the pesto ravioli. I guess I didn't the "feel" of an Italian style restaurant but I'm not sure how many places in Venice could host this many people, but again, great service (maybe the best we've come across).

Since it was a place with already a high number of reviews and a good rating, we wanted to give it a try. We were welcomed by a friendly staff member named Tony, who was very warm and welcoming.
We ordered one five-cheese pizza and one eggplant pizza, along with drinks. The service was very fast—our pizzas arrived quickly and were served hot. The dough was nice and thin, and the toppings were evenly and perfectly distributed. We finished with tiramisu, and it was absolutely delicious!
Everything was incredibly delicious. We experienced firsthand why this place has such a high rating. 👌🏻 perfetto!

We ordered some of pasta. They were good and normal but there is no balance between the price and the size of the food. Very small portion and high price. Extra service fee is not acceptable as well.
