Customers generally praise Tenoshima for its exceptional food presentation and taste, with many highlighting the welcoming service, friendly and attentive staff, and the interactive experience with the chef. The drink menu, including a sake flavor chart, is appreciated. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, describing it as a memorable and wonderful evening, one review expressed disappointment, citing blandness, lack of texture in some dishes, and a feeling of being overcharged compared to other Japanese dining experiences.

Dinner is the primary meal service, and booking is essential due to its popularity and intimate setting. Reservations are often prepaid.

We had a great experience at Tenoshima as part of our honeymoon.
The service and environment were very welcoming without being overbearing. The drink menu had helpful descriptions (and a flavor chart for sake) which were very useful for choosing well. Staff were friendly and attentive.
The food was all tasty and a mix of more/less familiar with several memorable standouts. Overall the dishes/ingredients seemed more humble than other “fancy” meals I have had but still obviously expertly done and innovative.
Thank you for a wonderful evening!
First time trying out an omakase dinner. The 9 course (with a small extra because of my brother's birthday) didn't disappoint as the food was well prepared and had that elegance of Japanese fine dining. Both host were great and had fun chatting with them as they were able to speak to us in English.
I just simply cannot rave on how wonderful each of the dishes were, both in presentation and taste. The standout from this menu that impressed me the most was the Mackerel with Carrot Sauce and the Deep Fried Grouper.
I can also see why booking is essential because it did get busy as the evening went by. Also worth noting that the course is prepaid when you book, but any extras like drinks is charged back to the card you prepaid your booking with.
Thank you once again for this great meal we had.
Such an amazing experience. Its different to European Michelins, where they run around in suits being so posh. Here, you have a pleasant atmosphere, open kitchen, chef really making the food, talking to you, explaining. We enjoyed ourselves so much, definitely would come back next time in Tokyo
We were delighted by all the dishes served at Tenoshima. Each was beautifully presented, and we enjoyed the sake & wine pairing. Chef Ryotei made an effort to welcome us, and his team was excellent. Dinner here was a highlight of our stay in Tokyo!
Food poisoning alert!! We were super excited to try a Michelin star omakase experience and started with high hopes. However, we were disappointed by the flavors, with some dishes having to go unfinished since they tasted a bit funky or too bitter. Then the wait got to us, 20 minutes between courses and the chefs prepare the dishes in a kitchen in the back out of view so nothing to keep you occupied. Then came the stomach cramps…both myself and my sister started having some severe pain. So much so we told the staff and asked to leave before all the dishes were served. Once we told staff we were sick they had us pay and ushered out so we could go into a taxi back to our hotel. No refund or discount for causing our sickness. Super disappointed and confused on how they got so many good reviews. Concerned some of these reviews on here are not genuine. Strongly suggest others find a better omakase place and skip this one.
