The wine bar itself is charming and cosy — ideal for a quiet date or a relaxed evening. However, the service and billing practices here are deeply concerning and have completely undermined the experience.
My boyfriend and I visited this place two weeks ago and ordered a £45 bottle of wine. When we asked for the bill, we were told the total was £106. When we questioned it, the staff insisted, “That’s what you drank,” in a rather dismissive tone. Only after checking did they realise their mistake and correct the bill without offering an apology.
Despite this incident, we decided to give the place another chance last week. The same waitress recognised us. We ordered a £50 bottle of white wine — yet again, the bill came to £60. When I pointed this out and referred to the wine list, she claimed “the menu price is wrong.”
To make matters worse, the staff — a small straight-mid-length-haired lady and the other lady (served 9:30-11:30 pm on 10 Oct) — remarked, “You are very lucky, you got a discount twice.” This was both rude and unprofessional. Being overcharged twice and then told we were “lucky” to have caught it is not something I expect from a so-called classic wine bar.
It’s a real shame, as the atmosphere and selection are lovely, but the lack of professionalism, transparency, and accountability from the staff completely ruins the experience.
If you choose to visit, double — even triple — check your bill.
Always a delight. The ambience was, as always, perfectly on point - such a cute hidden gem. We were so pleased to secure a spot for six before our dinner. The team are consistently warm and welcoming, effortlessly setting the perfect vibe. Three of our friends had never visited before; they were genuinely impressed and pleasantly surprised that such a special place existed.
Celebrating Beaujolais Nouveau, we booked a table at The Mulwray to sample some fine first harvests.
We opted for the wine flight which included a white, a new wine and an aged Fleurie. All three very different but delightful. Especially the Fleurie.
The service was top notch. Speedy, friendly and the team certainly knew their wines.
The atmosphere was pretty buzzing, more so because it sits above a busy pub. The cocktail lounge is mainly low seating and stools. Not the most comfortable if you’re tall. But is funky and well decorated.
It is clearly a popular place. We booked for 90 mins and we were not permitted any longer, purely because the next round of guests were flowing in.
We will go back - absolutely. Their normal wine menu looks very interesting!
Cozy cute wine bar in an area where you wouldn’t expect it. I loved each of the three wines we tried, all very unique. I had the chardonnay from Westwell, a natural wine and a rose. Also had an espresso martini which was nice and smooth. Highly recommend to go with your S.O. or as a small group of girls
I think this my new favourite wine bar to hang out in London. My pictures don’t do it justice but that’s probably I’ve had too many glasses of their delicious wines. The service is great and they are so knowledgeable on their wines. The seating and ambience just all mix so well for hanging out with friends and drinking a lovely glass or bottle
