The Thomas Cubitt

My wife and I had an excellent dinner at this pub on May 21. I knew that it gets busy so I made a reservation about 5 days in advance. We were seated immediately. The food was excellent, service efficient and friendly, and the dining room was relaxing and not too noisy. We saw the special exhibit of Queen Elizabeth II's clothing at the King's Gallery beforehand, and it was an easy 15 minute walk to this pub. I'll happily dine here again.

This is a lovely pub with excellent service but the food was initially disappointing. We had the crab and fennel on sourdough for starters. The crab ‘paste’ was barely there hiding beneath strips of fennel. My lamb shank was tough instead of the falling off the bone expectation. Our waiter on being informed was excellent, he couldn’t have been more apologetic and helpful. My companions meal was also returned so that we could eat together. The chef agreed it was tough and not acceptable so both our meals were freshly cooked and 25% taken off the main course cost. The second lamb shank was excellent so perhaps it was just unfortunate. I can not fault the way this issue was handled so would have no qualms in returning.

I had a very bad day (no ac for a 2.5 hour train trip and arrived to find my hotel, booked since January, had given my room away and would not reimburse me). I gave the short version to the manager seating us and he and his staff decided not only to serve us a delicious meal and drinks but also to wait on us as if we were special people. I cannot fully express how wonderful they were to us. We left full and with the belief that our hoped for vacation was back on track. I know I will never forget them.

In April, we had the pleasure of enjoying a wonderful Sunday Roast at the renowned Thomas Cubitt restaurant in London. The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the exquisite Duck Liver Parfait With Five Spice Onion Jam And Duck Fat Brioche. The parfait was silky smooth, with a rich, decadent flavor that was perfectly balanced by the tangy Five Spice Onion Jam. The accompaniment of the buttery, flavorful duck fat brioche was a masterstroke, creating a harmonious interplay of textures and tastes. Another standout dish was the roast half spring chicken. Cooked to perfection, the chicken was juicy and tender, with a crisp, golden skin that added a delightful crunch. The roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables served alongside the chicken were equally impressive, showcasing the kitchen's skill in delivering a classic Sunday Roast. In addition to the delectable food, the service at Thomas Cubitt was exceptional. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was truly memorable. To top it off, the Spicy Bloody Mary we enjoyed was simply superb. The perfect balance of savory and spicy, it was the ideal accompaniment to our Sunday Roast. Overall, our visit to Thomas Cubitt was a true delight. The combination of exceptional food, impeccable service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere created a dining experience that we would highly recommend to anyone seeking a sublime Sunday Roast in London.
