Valencia Once

Great restaurant in the center of Alicante that is a hidden gem, very reliable dishes with local touch, their paella rice is always excellent but the rest of the menu is also interesting and with great dishes. It is a restaurant with a long history that keeps high culinary standards within reasonable prices aiming and offering excellent service. Recommended to make reservations to ensure availability.

Mucho gusto!it was interesting ,as we ordered paella ,but we're told in Alicante it's arroz,so we got arroz with monkfish and shrimps!the service was fast and good ,the Ambiente comfy and traditional

Went 03MAY with a former neighbor who is an Alicante native and who has been attending the restaurant since the 1960s. What a wonderful culinary experience in a family run restaurant going on its third generation in a "non turisty" part of Alicante. True Alicantine food prepared in an authentic (and delicious) manner. Please do not spoil it with announcing it aboard a cruise ship!

The food was mostly good. We ordered two rice dishes which were tasty, and I enjoyed the aioli / tomate triturado with bread. We ordered a solomillo done medium for our 8 year old son, and it was delivered cold and very bloody throughout. We told the waiter and asked for it to be cooked more -- he gave us a dirty look, said nothing, took the plate, and came back later with an overdone solomillo a while later. That moved this review from a 4 star to a 2 star. After we finished our meals we asked for the bill, and 30 minutes later they still didn't bring it to us or tell us anything. Finally after 45 minutes, they told us something about computer problems, and brought us a screenshot of a bill, which we paid and left. They could have communicated whatever issues they were having, and maybe invited us to a small coffee or chupito or some detail, but they instead ignored us completely for almost an hour when we were ready to leave. That brought this review down to a 1 star. Lastly, their INCREDIBLY rude response to my wife's review in the attached screenshot (which has somehow now vanished) makes our experience with Valencia Once a zero star. Look at their responses to the 1-3 star reviews -- that is how they treat their customers. It seems to me that their service would be much improved by simply being more transparent and communicative with their customers. And at the least, have certain waiters refrain from giving dirty looks.
