Looking back at my visit to London in November of 2025, having lunch in The Foyer & Reading Room at Claridge's was an amazing place to experience luxury dining. The room itself is stunningly beautiful, shimmering with original art deco mirrors, soaring pillars, and a massive, spectacular central light fixture that gives the entire space a timeless, sophisticated energy. The service was flawless from the moment we walked in—incredibly attentive, warm, and polished without ever feeling stiff or unapproachable.
The absolute highlight of the meal was their famous, signature Lobster Wellington. It is an incredible piece of culinary theatre, presented whole on a silver tray shaped exactly like a lobster before being sliced. The execution was technically perfect—the puff pastry was beautifully golden and crisp, wrapping around a rich prawn mousse and incredibly sweet, tender lobster meat that wasn’t overcooked in the slightest. It came served with a rich, glossy bisque sauce poured tableside and a spread of excellent included sides, including crisp fries, fresh greens, and warm, crusty bread. We finished with a selection of mignardises from a beautiful tiered silver stand that capped off the afternoon perfectly. It is a premium splurge, but between the iconic Mayfair atmosphere and a dish that completely lives up to its legendary reputation, it is a definitive 5-star experience.
Firstly, the two excellent staff members that assisted us were extremely attentive, helpful and did everything they could to make the experience as special and memorable as possible. They were completely expert in what they were doing and nothing was too much for them. They delivered above and beyond any expectations and some… we were celebrating a special but sensitive occasion and how they handled it was exemplary. We were reassured that sandwiches were unlimited, and offered multiple times for extras.
The food came quickly and with full explanations of the ingredients and flavours. Sandwiches were great and well flavoured. The seasonal tartlets were surprisingly tasty given they were made of peas only… a great example of how to elevate simple ingredients. The scones were served warm and with silky clotted cream and home made strawberry and raspberry jam, which was fantastic. The pastries were well varied and ranged from pineapple to chocolate to lemon verbena, which was served with an excellent meringue - to me, it was the standout of the desserts.
Unfortunately I couldn’t remember the staff members names but the gentleman was a Brazilian from Sao Paolo and the lady was his manager from the south of France and they both were a credit to Claridges and were responsible for a really meaningful time for my family and I, so thank you to them.
If I’m going to rate it, it’s a 9.5/10. The only flaw (subjectively) was that not every dessert was to my personal taste, but it was still excellently executed.

I treated my parents to the Traditional Afternoon tea at Claridge’s for their 50th anniversary. It was truly amazing.
The service from the minute we arrived was so attentive and welcoming. They took our coats and our bags, then sat us down.
Arina was our server. She explained the menu very well and asked us if we would like additional sandwiches, scones or cakes throughout our time there. She recommended teas. My parents had the Rare Chai and I had the Jasmine tea and the Cornish Earl Grey. We are all vegetarian and she offered diabetic pastries for my Mum.
She also packed up the pastries and scones for us to take home with us. She also brought a strawberry cheesecake on a plate with Happy Anniversary written on it.
I’d highly recommend visiting Claridge’s for afternoon tea. It is a beautiful place to mark an occasion and my parents and I loved every minute of it.
Thank you to all of the staff that made the experience so memorable.
Be sure to have a look at the archive cabinet if the history of Claridge’s interests you.

Booked it well in advance to come on a Saturday for their Lobster Wellington. The whole setting of the restaurant was so comfortable and the gentleman who served us was attentive and humorous. Their Lobster Wellington was really one of the kind and it was not as expensive as I initially thought it would. Also ordered a bottle of Rare Vintage 2013 to go with. What a great dining experience! I’ll for sure come back.

She took the time to explain the afternoon tea experience with such warmth and professionalism. Her hospitality made our visit truly memorable. Thank you, Nikol!
