Cochon Butcher is a New Orleans establishment that pays tribute to Old-World butcher and charcuterie shops. They are renowned for making all their cured meats, sausages, and fresh cuts in-house with a team of five full-time butchers. The restaurant offers a casual, lively atmosphere focused on hearty, flavorful sandwiches and meat-centric dishes.
Customers consistently praise Cochon Butcher for its outstanding sandwiches, particularly the Cubano and Buckboard Bacon Melt, as well as the flavorful fried chicken and mac & cheese. The atmosphere is described as lively and enjoyable, though it can be loud. Service is generally noted as friendly, attentive, and quick. Some charcuterie items were found to be quite salty, and the boudin's texture was not universally appealing, but overall, it's highly recommended for its top-notch food and butcher-shop vibe.

One of my favorite stops while in New Orleans. As busy as they are with locals and tourists, they always have a seat for me. This time I had the muffuletta with house-made chips. It's a different sandwich than you'll get elsewhere. The house cured meat is the star of the show not the olive mix. And for 19 bucks you get the whole freakin' sandwich. Come hungry. Paired it with a chenin blanc for the perfect lunch. Great service.
What a delightful restaurant to try cochon for the first time. My boyfriend and I walked up and were seated right away. It was busy and the atmosphere was lively. It’s a pretty loud restaurant but still enjoyable. The staff and food were great! Definitely recommend making this a stop if you’re visiting NOLA.
Order the mac & cheese! We enjoyed the pineapple upside down cake a lot!
Cochon Butcher in New Orleans absolutely delivered! We stopped in and ordered the Cubano and the buckboard bacon melt, and both sandwiches were outstanding—packed with flavor, perfectly balanced, and seriously delicious. The Cubano had that ideal mix of crispy bread, savory pork, and tang, while the buckboard bacon melt was next-level with its smoky, rich taste. We washed it all down with their refreshing lemonade, which was the perfect bright and fresh complement to the hearty sandwiches.
The food and drinks were great across the board, and a huge shoutout to Chris, who did an excellent job taking care of us with friendly, attentive service that made the whole experience even better.
If you're in New Orleans and looking for top-notch sandwiches and butcher-shop vibes, Cochon Butcher is a must-visit. We'll definitely be back! Highly recommend
We visited around 1 pm on a Saturday and there was a line out the door. The line moved quickly and we surprisingly found a table.
We got the fried chicken which was a special on Saturday. It was so moist and delicious. The collard greens had bacon chunks which was something I had never tried before.
Our kids had the mac and cheese and the ham stuffed pretzel.
Everything was perfect and the prices were very reasonable. Can’t wait to visit again!
This place is amazing. I have gone every time that I come to New Orleans and they never disappoint. The pickles are amazing and the staff is super kind and funny. There is nothing on the menu that is not good. I got the fried chicken and dirty rice with watermelon salad. The chicken was juicy and tender and perfectly seasoned the dirty rice was my favorite and it was awesome and the watermelon salad was super tasty as well. The sweet potatoes hot sauce was killer. This place is a 100/10.
