Excellent Tacos, Attentive Service and the Clean Restrooms Worth Raving About
Absolutely fantastic tacos! Everything is freshly prepared, and those sauces—wow. I originally ordered two tacos but loved every single bite so much that I immediately ordered a third. When you combine the meat with the fresh hot sauces on the side and the crisp toppings of onions, parsley, and cilantro, the tacos genuinely become a flavor explosion in your mouth.
This was my first time trying Duros (pictured), and they were lovely. The carne asada taco was incredibly tender, and the deep-fried fish was perfectly breaded and crispy.
I also want to note that the bathroom was spotless. Personally, I don't care whether a restaurant's bathroom is old or newly renovated; as long as it is clean and well-maintained, it gives you confidence that the management is serious about hygiene and caring for their guests.
Overall, I had a fantastic dining experience during my time in Phoenix. The waiter was attentive and highly helpful with recommendations. I am honestly not sure what else one could possibly ask for from a restaurant. Everything was perfectly delivered!
Huarachis Taqueria was a great find. The staff was friendly, the open kitchen was fun to watch, and the restaurant felt clean and welcoming.
I had to order the lengua huarache, and it absolutely lived up to the restaurant's name. It was easily the highlight of the meal and something I'd order again without hesitation.
From a hospitality standpoint, the temperature was comfortable, the lighting was a touch brighter than I'd prefer, and my only real critique was the noise level. Even with the restaurant mostly empty, it was louder than I expected, making conversation at the bar a little difficult.
One fun surprise was the habanero that came with the escabeche. I love spicy food, and this one earned my respect. It may have been one of the hottest habaneros I've ever eaten. 🌶️
Overall, this is a place I'd happily come back to. Great food, genuinely friendly people, and a spotless restaurant from the dining room all the way to the restroom.

My wife Michelle and I were walking around downtown Phoenix yesterday when we noticed the bright pink glow coming from Huarachis Taqueria. The place was packed, which is usually a good sign, so we decided to stop in and see what all the buzz was about.
Michelle ordered the Mexican street corn (elote), and it was outstanding. I went with the tongue taco and the beef-and-bean taco. Nothing fancy or overcomplicated—just simple, authentic food packed with flavor.
What really stood out was the service. Both the host and our waitress were friendly, patient, and happy to answer questions and make recommendations. You could tell they genuinely cared about the customer experience.
The atmosphere was lively, welcoming, and full of energy. It’s easy to see why this place has become a local hotspot. Great food, great people, and a unique vibe that makes you want to come back.
If you’re in downtown Phoenix and looking for authentic Mexican food, put Huarachis Taqueria on your list. It’s already a popular spot, and after our visit, it’s easy to understand why. Let’s keep this local gem thriving!

I was staying in Phoenix for the weekend, and saw Huarachis was featured in the New York Times’ “36 Hours in Phoenix” guide, so I decided to visit. And I’m glad I did!
Huarachis is welcoming: the staff is were friendly and attentive (I walked in with pink box of dessert pastries and the host offered to put it in the refrigerator while I ate—so thoughtful!) The decor resonates deeply with Mexican culture and heritage, even down to some of the plates.
I ordered an aqua de sandia (watermelon juice), the frijol dip (which was FANTASTIC! Seriously, everyone should try it. The bean dip is made of refried pinto beans prepared with chicken stock, plus olive oil, chile spice/powder, onions, cilantro, and queso fresco), duros (similar to chicharrones), and two huaraches (I ordered lengua/tongue and my partner ordered hongos/mushrooms). The huaraches were excellent—crispy and refreshing from the lime juice. The portion was very generous, so be ready to eat.
If I’m ever in Phoenix again, I will return. I’ll also recommend Huarachis Taqueria to friends and family.
(P.S., Plenty of reviews mentioned difficulty finding parking. There were plenty of paid parking lots around Huarachis, but the price was $35.00 when I was there at 11:45 am. I was able to find cheaper metered street parking, but please know that parking is a challenge and not the restaurant’s doing.)

We were in town on a trip, and had time to burn while waiting to head to the airport. Gave Huarachi's a shot, and are we ever glad we made that decision.
Fantastic tacos (had chicharone and carne asada), excellent micheladas, we had the Huarachi beans, the tortillas and butter, and finished with the Concha ice cream sandwich.
Everything was great. Our bartender was entertaining. The atmosphere was a great cap on a great trip.
