Wow... what an amazing find! We had the fixed menus, including one menu that was 100% vegan. A veritable feast of flavors where classic Italian dishes are prepared with modern flair. Excellent decor, each dish is a curated work of art, and the staff is wonderful. Simone, the manager, is a real jewel and became an instant long lost friend!
Tucked into a quiet street just off Piazza Bra, L’Evangelista is a wonderful find. They offer a four course prix fixe vegan tasting menu or ala carte. The dishes were all delicious and beautifully plated. The restaurant was great about letting us know each time they brought an unexpected amuse from the kitchen that it was a vegan item. Quiet, friendly, upscale. A perfect place for a nice evening out.
All in all, a fantastic experience. I would give 8 stars if I could. By far one of the best restaurants I’ve ever visited if you’re looking for a place that perfectly combines traditional dishes with modern cuisine — especially vegan and vegetarian options. Most restaurants can do one or the other; this one truly masters both.
Even though the restaurant is located near the Arena di Verona, it is definitely not a tourist trap. The flavors of the dishes were simply outstanding. The wine selection was excellent as well — I especially appreciated that they offered smaller bottles of high-quality wines, which was perfect since my girlfriend was not drinking and one normal bottle would be too much for me.
And the service deserves special mention. Simone, the manager, is incredibly welcoming, passionate, and takes the time to explain the ingredients of the dishes and the restaurant itself. His staff shares the same passion and professionalism.
That being said, if you’re just looking for a cheap evening with pizza and beer, this might not be the right place for you. Quality comes at a price — but for an experience like this, I would gladly pay again anytime.
All the best,
Mr. Wolf ;)
The food was good. The à la carte menu is somewhat limited, and the dishes are on the expensive side, but they are creative, and well executed.
What left us disappointed was the wine service. The waiter recommended a half bottle of wine, and we accepted the suggestion without discussing the price. We only realized when the bill arrived that it was €70. We understand that we could have asked beforehand, but when recommending a wine at that price point, we believe it would be good practice to mention the price first. That small step would allow guests to make an informed choice and avoid an unpleasant surprise at the end of an otherwise enjoyable meal.
A really beautiful experience for a 30th birthday. Simone was absolutely incredible, making sure all of our needs were met. He recommended a lovely bottle of wine that paired well with what we had to eat. There was also a sommelier there and all the staff were very attentive and helpful.
The food was amazing, especially the pasta dishes and the pork belly.
They also pulled out all the stops and brought out a sparkler for my wife's birthday, which was a lovely touch.
I'd highly recommend it if you want good quality food with fantastic service.
