Very very busy place. We got way too much food, wanting to try everything we could, nachos with brisket were awesome With beef tallow chips! Thats a meal. We also tried and loved the sliced brisket, choped brisket, green chili cheddar sausage. Turkey was good but not the star. We dont eat corn but wife said the corn pudding stuff was good. Oh and the tallow fries were awesome and thick really soaked in the tallow flavor.

Lewis Barbecue absolutely lived up to the hype. We ordered the brisket, and as someone who enjoys smoking brisket at home, I can honestly say they nailed it. We specifically asked for the point end (the fattier portion), and it was outstanding. The bark was exactly what you hope for, the smoke flavor was spot on without being overpowering, and the fat-to-meat ratio was perfect. Every slice was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. You can tell they know what they’re doing. We also tried the brisket nachos. They were good, but honestly, if it’s your first visit, I’d skip the extras and just order more brisket. The brisket is the star of the show and doesn’t need much else. The only thing to keep in mind is that the line can get pretty long, especially during peak times, so plan your visit accordingly. Overall, fantastic barbecue, friendly service, and some of the best brisket I’ve had in the Charleston area. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be back.

Outstanding pulled pork! Fries are great too. We had to wait in line for 30 minutes, but it went fast. They had water while we were waiting and plenty of seating once we ordered food. Definitely recommend. Staff was also extremely kind, like they actually enjoyed working there.

Lewis Barbecue is definitely a top-tier spot in Charleston for authentic Texas-style BBQ. The atmosphere is high-energy, and I was impressed with how good and fast the service was, especially considering how long the line can get. They have a very efficient system that moves you through the counter quickly. • The Meats: We tried the brisket and the ribs. The cook on both was perfect—the brisket was incredibly tender with a great bark, and the ribs pulled away from the bone just right. However, both the brisket and the ribs were a little salty for our taste. While the smokiness was excellent, the saltiness was a bit overpowering by the end of the meal. • The Sides: the Mac & Cheese is a must-try and helped balance out the savory meats. • The Vibe: Great outdoor seating and a cool industrial feel. It’s a lively spot, though it can get a little noisy when it’s at full capacity. Overall: A solid 4-star experience. If you enjoy a very bold, salty rub on your BBQ, you’ll love it. For us, a little less salt would have made the natural flavor of the meat shine even more.
