Portions for some items have also been criticized. First time trying this place out. I ordered the Jerk Pork with Rice, veggies, plantains and a currant roll on the side. Everything was very good and very tasty. Customer service is what you'd expect in a Jamaican restaurant. If you can get past that, then you'll be fine. I'll be back if I'm in the area.
I’ve been purchasing food from Blue Mountain for well over 15 years. Its was actually my go to spot, it never disappoints. However over the years the quality of food as well as the service has declined significantly. I’m not sure what is the cause of the decline, however it is very noticeable. My last two purchases from them including today May 3rd 2026. I was served stale food. The food was noticeably stale at first taste. I purchased a chicken soup that smelled at tasted rancid. The chicken was black as to be compared as rotten. It’s smelled like it was cooked the day prior and left out of the refrigerator over night. It immediately made my sick to the point of throwing up. Prior to today, I purchased jerk wings with were clearly reheated possibly in a microwave and placed in the heating tray for sale. It was hard and the bone last were all dried up. The flavor filled food that was they were once known for is now gone. I don't know if there was a change in cooks over the years of they just don’t care anymore. I can pinpoint several other instances throughout the past years but I don’t think I’ll have enough space. Just be mindful when purchasing food from Blue Mountain Restaurant on Utica Ave. Buyer beware!
Blue mountain located at Utica Ave Brooklyn NY WAS my go to Jamaican restaurant. NOT ANYMORE! Today 11/15/24 @ 1:40 pm. I spent 30 on take out. I asked the lady server how much is each dish in a large container? She told me $9 each. So I told her that I want stew chicken, macaroni & cheese, & yellow rice each in a large container. Then I ordered a chicken roti & I asked for them to put my roti bread separate from the roti chicken.
I'm going to attach pic's to this review.
To start, I barely got any Stew chicken, Mac & cheese, but plenty of rice.
My chicken roti was all sauce and hardly any chicken. Roti had no potatoes or chick peas. Just 1 lonely piece of carrot.. Roti bread was Hard, Stale and crusty. In a word disgusting. After I ate the roti, I felt sick to my stomach. I dare not touch the stewed chicken and Mac & cheese taste horrible. I guess they got New chef's. All this Gross food cost me $30. Used to be a good restaurant. Not anymore. They'll never get any business from me ever again. DISGUSTING 🤢🤮.
I usually love the food prepared at this restaurant .But for the past few months ,I have been very disappointed with the stewed peas. Pork is often time too salty and undercooked.
4 times I have bought in the past 3 months and had to throw it away.
I kept hoping that the next time it would be better. Because it use to be sooooo good...
Don't know if a new chef came in town or what. But the stew peas is a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.
Staff are very nice!
