We were greeted friendly as we arrived and surprised to have to pay for chips and salsa. I think the menu pricing for those are expensive- I did see where they took almost half off, but didn't see any happy hour specials posted so I'm presuming I got a discount of $3 off the $6.25 appetizer.
Their spaghetti and tomato soup is meh- if we ate there again I'd decline their "authentic" soup course. The waiter said they were authentic, but that wasn't with the calories to me.
The chicken fajitas were bland...I told them and the chef stopped by to talk to me about sodium being bad for you, but I literally just added 3 kinds of salsa and spiced them up without adding salt. You can flavor without salt and these lacked flavor and had too much oil.
The only think that reminded me of my visits to Mexico were the chips - those were good -
We all got water and it was refreshed, the offered us to try their coconut water and we declined as no one likes coconut water at my house.
The atmosphere was Like all of the New Mexican places popping up. Using the day of the dead decor and the wallpaper art with flashy signs... they spent on decor for sure.
All it all I have had better for more reasonable price points. Too many other options in this area to pay such a high price.
Been trying to go here for quite some time but there was always a long wait to get in. Now I know why. This place is awesome! The food was amazing, the service was on point and very helpful. I had the Serrano Waffle Sandwich and Mrs H had the the Crepas Guey Con Comida. Everything was absolutely delicious. Definitely looking forward to our next visit!
The food is always delicious, the margs are fantastic, and the service is consistently great.
Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. I also love that the menu keeps growing because there's always something new to try.
The only thing I was a little disappointed by was having to pay for the chips and salsa.... However it's not a deal breaker.
Other than that, I highly recommend checking this place out. Great food, great drinks, and great people!
Good Food, But Mixed Vibes
The Food & Experience
The Good: They start you off with a really tasty complimentary small alphabet soup with lime. I ordered the chicken fajitas and loved that they gave five corn tortillas instead of the usual three. The Spanish rice and pinto beans were also delicious!
Good to Know: Chips and salsa aren't free, and the fajitas don't come with standard toppings like guacamole, sour cream, or pico de gallo. Also only received one napkin and had to ask for another.
Safety Note: The fajitas are served only on a hot skillet without a standard plate to safely assemble or eat your food, which felt like a burn hazard. Also the lack of napkins made this a little messy.
Service & Pricing
The host was incredibly nice and welcoming! The tableside service itself felt a bit indifferent and monotone, though that may just have been my server's natural personality. Expect to pay $20+ per entree, and note that the preset digital tipping options start at 20%.
The Cultural Vibe
As a non-Spanish-speaking Hispanic born in America, I felt a shift in energy when I spoke English, and the staff seemed a bit more distant. It’s a frustrating dynamic some of us face where you can feel like an outsider within your own culture. It dampened the hospitality a bit for me, though your experience may vary.
Overall: While the food had great highlights and the host was lovely, the combination of high prices, the skillet safety issue, and the overall vibe means I probably won't be back for awhile.
