Best Times to Visit
The bakery is open from 8 am to 7 pm Monday-Thursday and Sunday, and 8 am to 8 pm Friday-Saturday. It's ideal for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or an afternoon treat. For specific items like the salt bread bagel, it's recommended to visit earlier in the day, though they sometimes offer it later.
Been a few times and everything I've tried is great. Not too sweet, and super unique! The matcha Souffle, mochi donut, salt bread bagel and jam jars are my top picks on the menu. The matcha Souffle was fun and instagramable, but it wasn't worth coming back for. I would return for more mochi donuts and salt bread bagels. Though they display the bagel is only available until 11am, sometimes they do offer it afterwards, so be sure to ask at the register. The butter is perfect and reminds me of the popular butters I've enjoyed in Paris- anything Dominique creates is the best! If I had to choose between the Ube Jar or the Mango Coconut, I'd choose the mango. My only complaint is that they don’t travel the best. Travel with the jam jars carefully!
Found this through Instagram, and what immediately pulled me in was the butter-dipped ice cream. It sounded so different and unique, and as someone who loves butter, it absolutely did not disappoint.
They also have other baked goods and sandos that were seriously delicious. Everything felt thoughtfully made, and the whole spot ended up being such a good find during my NYC trip. Definitely one of those places I’d happily go back to again.

Papa d’Amour is a bakery and café focused on creative Asian-inspired pastries, desserts, and drinks. The concept feels like a mix between a modern pastry shop and a casual café, with a menu that takes familiar bakery items and adds unique flavors and textures. What stood out to me was how many items felt designed to be both visually interesting and different from typical pastries, while still keeping the flavors approachable.
The pastries are the main reason to visit. The mochi donuts were one of the highlights for me because they had a crisp exterior with a chewy texture inside that made them more interesting than a traditional donut. The combination of mochi texture with fillings like taro or jam gave them a nice balance between familiar and creative. The salt bread bagel and shokupan are also worth trying because they showcase the bakery’s focus on texture and Japanese-inspired baked goods.
The dessert options are where Papa d’Amour gets especially creative. The butter vanilla soft serve is one of the more unique items because of the rich buttery flavor, which makes it different from a standard soft serve. It is definitely a specific flavor profile, so it may depend on how much you enjoy sweeter desserts with a stronger dairy and butter taste. The matcha soufflé is another standout visually, with a light and delicate presentation that makes it a fun item to try.
The café atmosphere makes it a good place to sit down with a drink and enjoy a few different items rather than just grab one pastry to go. The space has a cute and relaxed feel, and the menu encourages sharing multiple desserts since there are so many unique options. The staff were friendly during my visit, and the overall experience felt casual and welcoming.
The main thing to keep in mind is that some items are more impressive because of their creativity and presentation, while others depend heavily on personal taste. If you prefer traditional pastries, some of the more experimental flavors may not stand out as much. I would recommend coming with the mindset of trying something different rather than expecting a classic bakery experience.
Overall, Papa d’Amour is a fun stop for anyone interested in Asian-inspired pastries and creative desserts. The combination of unique flavors, interesting textures, and café atmosphere makes it stand out. I would come back to try more of the baked goods, especially the mochi donuts and other seasonal creations.

We had a fun time trying the beautiful pastries at Papa d’Amour on a cold fall day. The highlight was the mochi donut, which had a fantastically crispy crust and an addictive mochi and jam filling.
The Malay banana bread was warm and comforting. The scallion blossom was alright. The matcha soufflé was a bit too sweet for us, but the presentation was incredibly fun.
The manager confirmed with the chef that the mochi donut was vegetarian, but the jam jars and many of the other pastries have fish gelatin. The mochi toasties they just debuted are also gelatin-free!

Cute cafe vibes. Some stuff was REALLY good, other things were just okay.
- Kurobuta hot dog spiral: 10/10, so flavorful, and the sticky rice worked well. Very flakey and great croissant texture
- Taro & mochi lace batter donut: 7/10, kinda mid, but I liked the mochi texture and exterior lace batter. Wasn’t a huge fan of the jam inside, tasted kinda artificial
- Pretzel salt egg tart: 3/10, they gave us free egg tart samples (so sweet of them), but I can tell why they were giving them away lol. Pretty mid, didn’t like the crust
- Salt bread bagel w/ cream cheese: 7/10, pretty good salt bagel, and the cream cheese is yummy
