I’m always transparent about my reviews, and this one is a place I genuinely expect to return to. I came for lunch with three others and we ordered a solid cross‑section of the menu: the Cochon de Lait Po’ Boy, barbecue shrimp and grits, Huevos Rancheros, and the fried cauliflower. **Atmosphere** They describe it perfectly on the sign: “It’s pretty hard to find but it’s right nearby.” It feels like a fun, slightly hidden New Orleans spot with real character, and the whole place has that comfortable, lived‑in vibe. **Service** Friendly, easygoing, and steady throughout. Nothing flashy, but it worked. **Food** The best part of the meal was the pork. The cochon de lait itself was very good, even if the po’ boy as a whole felt a little underbuilt for the price. The Huevos Rancheros was enjoyable and tasted fresh, but it did not land as memorably as I expected. The barbecue shrimp and grits was fine, with big head‑on shrimp. It was a bit messy at the table, and grits with a fork is an odd experience. The fried cauliflower had a nice fry on it, but cauliflower is still cauliflower. The aioli and jelly helped, but it ended up feeling bland. Overall, this is a lovely place with a great location, kind people, and a kitchen that is close to being really special. I’d recommend it, especially for the setting, and I’m happy to go back and keep exploring the menu.
