Had a great time here. It has that small jap bar feel with mostly counter seating, good music and atmosphere.
We did the tasting menu. Eggs, pasta and steak were great. The anko karaage tasted great too, though the batter was falling apart a bit too much. Homemade highball was yummy too, tastes like chai tho slightly diluted by the ice. Food was paced well and service was good. Overall just a rly fun and easy place to be at.
Love the counter seating where you watch the chef at work taking his time to cook the wagyu. Resting and tossing it back into the oven several times. Enjoyed the dashi eggs and mussels as well. The pomodoro with burrata was a fav for me that night including the wagyu. The highball came with some spice notes was an interesting as well. All in all a very lovely experience!
I had high expectations, but unfortunately this was a disappointing experience from start to finish.
We started with the duck fat potatoes, which honestly tasted like plain boiled potatoes with little to no richness or crispness. It was something I could easily make at home. Next came the pomodoro pasta, and it tasted as though it was made with a generic pre-made tomato sauce rather than a freshly prepared one. Considering the prices, the quality of the food simply didn't justify the cost.
We had also ordered the wagyu steak, but after being told it would take 40–60 minutes and already feeling underwhelmed by the first two dishes, we decided to cancel it rather than risk another disappointment.
To top it off, the restaurant has a number of dining rules, including requiring every guest to order a drink. That wouldn't have bothered me if the food had been worth it, but when the meal itself falls so short, these policies only make the experience feel even less customer-friendly.
Overall, the food lacked execution, the pricing felt unjustified, and the rigid dining policies left a poor impression. Sadly, this isn't a place I'd return to or recommend.
We were greeted very warmly by the Japanese staff - with decent recommendations for the sake. The dashi egg truly lives up to the hype, the pomodoro pasta was subtle and fragrant and I finished the sauce as well. The seasonal fish was nice but nothing super special. Pistachio soufflé was surprisingly light in texture yet quite strong in taste. Loved 3/4 dish here, would definitely come back again. Ambience was great as well!!
I was looking for fusion bistro type of food and enjoyed this cute spot run by a cute Japanese couple! While the menu is small, the dishes are quite well done. The standouts were Dashi Egg and Fried Chicken (not your usual karaage! It’s tender, fluffy, crunchy and not oily!). Their grilled yellowtail (imported from JP) with mushroom sauce was okay - not all parts were perfectly grilled. Wine selection menu is small but love their natural wine curation. Enjoyed the dim light atmosphere. Would return!
