Chart house is a gem away from the city. We decided to go here when the steakhouse we usually frequented while in town raised their pricing and we thought we would try a new place. We are glad we did!
We have now been twice, once for dinner, and once for lunch.
We had steak for dinner, which ended up being a great choice. Everything was cooked and seasoned great, including the meatballs we had as an appetizer. We also ordered mixed drinks that were great.
When we returned for lunch, we had the diner burger and fish and chips. Both were excellent. It's so nice to have a hand-formed burger at a restaurant that is cooked correctly.
We find the service is good, but not excellent. Everybody is friendly, but sometimes it takes longer than expected to be checked on.
The view is definitely a bonus, hard to beat.
For the price point, I wouldn’t recommend it. The food was ok, not a lot of flavor. Everyone had to add salt n pepper to their dishes. Chart House has been around for a long time and we haven’t been back since pre covid so we thought it was going to be a good pick for our daughter’s birthday dinner. My daughter is underage and I did mention in our RSVP it was her birthday. I found it odd they sat our family near the bar , the bar is downstairs. You have to go out of your way to be near the bar and my first choice for a family with minors would not be near the bar area (albeit not at the bar). Our table cloth was dirty with a stain and crumbs on it. Again, if it was maybe an Applebees, I would just wipe it off myself. They didn’t do anything for my daughter’s bday (free dessert) but we did order and pay for dessert but not even a Happy Birthday message was added. It was a disappointment. The staff and valet were very friendly and you are paying for the view. As a comparison, we went to Ruth’s Chris for a birthday- phenomenal service. We picked out any dessert on the house, and the manager came by to wish us a happy birthday. It’s just those small things that make it worth spending your money because dining out these days is definitely a treat.

Amazing experience at Chart House Hillsdale! The New York steak was absolutely delicious — juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned with just the right spicy touch. Every bite was incredible! The restaurant also offers an excellent view that makes the whole dining experience even more special. Great atmosphere, great food, and outstanding service. Love it! Highly recommended.

The best part of this restaurant is the views of Mount Hood, and Mount Saint Helens. It’s a classic place off of Terwilliger Boulevard and great for special occasions. We had the steak and lobster, steak and mashed potatoes, mahi, fish, and salmon dish.

You know when you want to get a little dressed up and go to a nice restaurant without feeling overdressed or rushed through your meal? This is the spot. We had a wonderful date night here. Attentive service, good atmosphere (not too quiet, not too loud), and good food. Plus you can’t beat the view and complimentary valet. Everything on the menu looked good, we could come here a dozen times and have something different every time. We appreciated the mocktail menu!
